Our frames are boxed from transmission cross-member to the front of the rig, or at least mostly boxed. Because it was boxed there I had a hell of a time getting the nut on the front bolt of my bolt on sliders. And I have no real problem with the plastic vs metal part because ours is metal where it counts and if you slide into a tree or a rock you are getting body damage metal or plastic. haha The only plastic part I worry about is the bed, not sure how well I would trust it with really heavy weight, but luckily I don't ever plan on hauling anything very heavy in the back (doesn't help that I only have like a 3ft bed haha) so the plastic is actually a perk since I don't have to worry about the bed rusting out now.

Other than that, I personally think 2nd gens have a more badass look (not that I haven't seen some badass 1st gens) but that is my opinion and others thing the opposite haha. I think this stems partly from the fact that we each like the gen that we own more. Part of this is human nature (what is mine is better than what is not, etc, like how we like our own race better than others, our gender, our state, our country, etc) and the other part is that we really like our rigs so seeing other rigs like ours reminds us of ours and are more pleasurable. haha
