I done the install twice and it took me about 10 hours with few breaks between. You just have to read instructions carefully and step by step its very detailed. It also helps to have an extra hand. It can be done as long as you a good do it yourselfer. I also installed URD fuel pump kit which is a Walbro fuel pump and it helps with the SC. The hardest part for me was getting that crank pulley bolt off which is set arounf 200 lb of torque but I used the bump crank method.
BTW OP i would go with the TRD kit, it has much more low end torque you need for towing or offroading unless your into the street scene the URD will be a better fit as it produces more power at a higher RPM.

Sounds like the trd is the way to go so i think im going to go with that. Not sure if ill do the install myself or not, dont know if i have the time. Does the upgraded fuel pump add power to? or does it just help the s/c run more efficiently. And is it true you have to run 91 octane in your engine after?
And also, hows it change your mpg?

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Holy shit, good thing there's snow on the ground or it would have caught something on fire probably. My friend had an old 86 GMC Jimmy small blazer that did that, had straight pipes and you could load it up by turning the key off, pumping the gas and turning it back on, sounded like 2 12 gauges going off at once, and it really shot out some flames.

Yes, you have to run 91 oct on any boosted motor. The factory fuel pump has a hard time keeping up with the fuel demands of the S/C'd motor when floored, so added in the bigger fuel pump will fix that, especially if you start doing more mods, like a smaller pulley on the S/C, etc.

There was a hill there and it was pretty slick and he was getting pissed that he couldn't get up it (he broke a shaft in the ADD so when his front locker wasn't engaged he didn't have 4wd at all, and when it was engaged only his driver's side tire was spinning). He would stand on the throttle and let it bounce off the rev limiter for a while and when he would let off the throttle it would throw all that extra fuel out the exhaust and become a flamethrower:cool: haha

MPG's can be pretty much close to stock if you have a light foot, but if you do have a heavy foot expect to go through gas alot quicker lol all depends how you drive

Yeah, some people actually get a little better mileage with the S/C if they have a light foot, but a heavy foot will tear up gas quickly.

I dont see how you could get a s/c and have a light foot stil haha :D.
i wanna hear it if i get it. Im not 100 percent sold on the idea just cause it is a lot of money to drop but i would def love the extra power.

The fuel pump is not a must have with the SC but it can help you depending on how you use the SC and if you have time and money I say why not....mileage will stay the same with a light foot and I also observed better highway mileage with the sc given the fact it makes the engine more efficient at highway speeds and it hunt for different gears just cause it has the power in 5th gear to climb and incline....in the city if you have a lead foot mileage will definitely drop its a given...but I loved my precious SC'ed tacomas

The blower in URD is a completely different design and would be so different with a seat of pants vs. a TRD. you will get more whine from roots style vs the Rotrex. I have some experience with Rotrex blowers, they are incredible with the planetary gears in them they wind up to 100,000 rpm easily. I put one on my GSXR1000... ya its nuts. like a turbo but with no lag. 5th gear at 130-mph it will lift straight up. I splurged this year and changed over to a newer cogged design from A & A performance. And then blew the motor, lol. So its apart right now and being rebuilt for 15lbs of boost.

I installed my S/C myself and drove it 15 miles to the dealer for the flash.

Took about 14 hours between me and a buddy and it has run perfectly over a year now.

With the TRD Flash I have had no lean/rich problems and the whine is addictive.
