Buy something inexpensive and that gets you going again. Save and buy the setup you want.

I don't think you'll lose anything by waiting a bit to get the setup you want. Plus it gives you some time to think about what you need.

Thank you. What isolator do you use?

So this guy explains the advantages of an isolator over a solenoid really well...

    http://vandwellers.org/isolator/index.html

The smart start he's referring to is an "intelligent" type solenoid system, somewhat similar to the national luna, with a solenoid controlled by a computer.

I need some help with a Tahoe getaway. I haven't been up there sence I was a kid. It would just be for a weekend, not sure if I want to go to the north shore or south shore? Was looking for a hotel maybe a cabin. Anyone??? J/k. I have a 11 month old so I would prefer a hotel with a little kitchen.
Just seeing if any of you Tahoe guys could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks
    Brett

There's a little Mexican place on north side I think. Like ten minutes away from northstar resort. They have the most legit fish tacos

Ryan your link isn't working. Would it be bad if I ran one battery two weeks before the other one? Something cheap is $80, might as well double and pickup an optima

No idea on the link, it seems to be working for me. (anyone else?)

As far as not having both batteries installed at the same time, I don't think it's going to be an issue, especially if you're using a good isolator system.

Just went up to the MET today. Had a pretty good time! It was about half plowed, but the plowed half was suuuuper icy. When we stopped for lunch we saw a tow truck drive and then it came back the other way with a minivan following with chains. I don't know what happened, but it seemed like the minivan didn't have chains....and it was doing the MET...cue jberry...:p
As for the un-plowed part, it was also kinda icy, and it was super easy as long as you stayed on the ruts in the middle. When we turned around to head out we ran into a few other trucks and the only way to pass was to pull off, so I pulled off and as soon as the passenger wheels went off the icy ruts I dropped down and was instantly stuck..
Luckily the other guys were all ginormous solid front axle pre-1989 Toyota forerunners and pickups on 37+ tires, so they could get around and then one pulled me out.
Then literally 300ft later a stock Tacoma did the same thing that I did to let me pass, but he had super shitty street tires so I winched him out but it was a struggle.
But it was all pretty fun! Beautiful area, and actually really warm today (high in the 60s).
Oh, and the only run in with any forest ranger was at the beginning where a f250 or 350 pulling a trailer got stuck in some bad ice in the middle of the road, so the ranger was directing traffic around. No tickets or anything for me, though! :D

If I'm reading it right you just want to pull the whole thing out.... you'll need to remove the skid plate and the sway bar. Remove the LCA shock bolt, pull the 3 top bolts for the strut, drop the LCA off the spindle and wiggle it out. Pretty quick and easy

No. Just pull the bottom spindle bolt and put some weight on the LCA to force it down. You can loosen the cam bolts but that's your alignment so I wouldn't unless you have to. I've never had to but Seth did it on an install.

Oh and you'll need to loosen the brake lines off the spindle but that's easy

I wrote that from my phone, just got to my computer, so I'll upload them shortly.
I didn't get too many pics, though, unfortunately. Mainly scenery, not really any of the recovery stuff. :(

Honestly I prefer scenery. If you wouldn't mind, I plan on saving any good ones you got. I have a rotating background that pulls pics out of a folder on my computer. It's all nature and mountains and stuff haha.
