Hey everyone, I just bought a 2008 tacoma double cab, and overall im pretty happy with it. Just something that caught my eye after washing it one sunny afternoon. I noticed a flaw in the paint job, it looked like the paint had bubbles in it just over the rocker panels. After further inspection i noticed a approx two inch strip of paint that goes from one end of the truck to the other end on both sides that was bubbled. I thought my paint job was defective and was ready to call the dealer, but decided to check other tacomas and discovered that other trucks had this "bubble strip" also. Can anyone explain why the paint on our tacomas is like this?

I got my first 4x4 in 1972...haven't been without one! I still like Chrome!
The way I understand it, its a a type of anti-chip protection.

I just found that on mine while drying it for the first time yesterday. I thought WTF? I noticed it seemed uniform on both sides, so I thought I'd check here before I went screaming back to the dealer. Thanks for the info.
