I give all the credit to 05 X-Runner. I copied and pasted this over from XRU. I think its a great mod to go with the BHLM.

Read all of these install instructions prior to attempting this fog light modification. I cannot be held responsible for any damages or personal harm resulting from this modification…Hopefully this small article will help you as well as others feel more confident about tackling this relatively simple modification... This is only intended as a guide for others, so please treat it as such.

First I'd like to thank Kev and Lenie for the help they gave me while completing this fog light mod. Secondly I'd like to say this is my first write up so bare with me I tried my best to explain how to do this mod. Last but not least we tried a few different ways to do this mod and the below way was the best way that we found to complete this mod.

    Tools
    pliers (I used needle nose)
dremel or similar type of rotary tool w/ a cut off blade
    some sort of prying tool
    knife
    painters tape
    paint
    silicone

    Steps

    1) Take your fog lights off your truck. I did this by first taking the light bulbs out and then using the needle nose pliers to un clip the adjuster screw from it's bracket and then gently pushing out the fog light from the back so that it popped out from the front of the truck.

    2) Use the dermel and cut around the bottom lip of the black fog light housing. Be careful not to cut to deep because you do not want to cut the lens cover. (see picture)

    PA250015_ac52448822ea77a76c9088e5ddabe004f2d76302.jpg

    3) Use the prying tool and pry off the lip from the housing that you just cut.

    PA250007_87287d40e97914009c7048c54459802199e42cda.jpg

After step three your fog light should look close to this.

    PA250009_8a69ebf0164a82ece02ce3c067e94dc5c95298c6.jpg

    4) Take the knife and cut in between the lens cover and the black housing to cut the remaining silicone. About halfway to three quarters of the way around you will be able to pop the lens cover off fairly easy.

Side note: here are some pictures of what we cut off the housing and the lens cover after it was off to give you all a better idea of what we cut and how deep we cut.

    PA250020_d6c5c47789aba4e075005407ed16aeeb0420a9e5.jpg

    5) Tape off the inside of the fog light with the painters tape

    PA250025_2e93e52a3b2ac74573c1ff9c0ef7def969ed116d.jpg

    6) Paint the rim of the fog light and let it dry.

    PA250026_71b189c0534377a3daaf51849e446bc4b48ecb09.jpg

We used this type of black paint

    PA250028_b42153c5496a7d65479f6d020b97d51fb1d91b6c.jpg

    7) After the paint is dry take out the painters tape and put a bead of silicone around the outside of the housing .

    PA250038_e9e801e0ea530791e0a31c7d98933d328c4a848d.jpg

    8) Slide the lens cover back on to the housing.

    PA250040_df263e9c9b6034cb08921e1613aa07ce552db0b4.jpg

    9) Smooth out the silicone and put additional silicone if needed so the there is a nice leak free bead of silicone. Then let the silicone dry completely

    PA250041_04a5ddba5f525d1969d5e0a601f304739799dec0.jpg

    10) Once the silicone is dry reinstall your fog lights on your truck and enjoy.

Here is before and after shots of this mod on my truck.

After completing this mod the light output seemed the same as before it. (just incase you were wondering)

For some reason the fogs sound easier than the HL do

Probably because you don't have to cook them, it's just grinding...cutting...whatever you wanna call it.

A friend of mine did this on a extra fog light that he had for his silver truck and honestly its not worth the time to do it. You really only notice it when your right in front of the truck, and can't see it when you are far away. So I'd say only do it if you have nothing better to do.

What 09 HL who? what? I'm lost again...
I got a great story. Last night I was hanging with my sister at her college (University of California Irvine) and we were going around and I was catching her up with my life and shit and we went to a party, helped her bf paint his theater set, went on the roof of the theater, all this shit! Eventually got back to her apt at 230AM and I fell asleep at like 3 and then 8AM as I'm still sleeping her roommate shuffles into the kitchen and starts washing the dishes really fucking loud and I'm like half awake and all this shit...anyways I was basically off and on sleeping all this morning between 8 or 9 and something around 11. Needless to say this has a point...it was hella fun hanging with my sister and that I'm kinda tired so you gotta spell shit out for me right now. lol

Since I'm off topic already, the 4Runner rims look hella good on Tacos...that's gonna be my first mod when I get my truck. I'm putting on 4Runner Limited rims. Then gonna save everything to get a S/C. Maybe do some cheap mods here and there but idk. It's gonna be clean though.
Oh and your truck is one of my favs on here.

Honestly, this mod is a waste of time. If you really want to do something to your fog lights, paint the area around the fog light black.

I know the the bulbs and housing get very hot. I would think the paint should be some sort of high-temp stuff and instead of silicone, use some high-temp RTV. IMHO.

    Nice job though...looks great!
