Anyone have any tips or ideas for a temporary bed cover? I don't want a tonneau cover because I have bike fork mounts installed along the front bed rail and they protrude above the top of the bed height about 1/2" or so. Plus I use the bed rail system a fair amount and don't want anything in the way(I know some tonneaus don't interfere). Also I just spent $$$ on Billies, wheels and tires sooooo......I am not spending on a bed cover.

BUT....I am taking a trip this weekend and snow is likely and I need to cover what we'll have in the bed(guns, gear, food).

I realize I could just throw a tarp over the stuff but I didn't know if anyone has come up with anything a little better but not full blown tonneau.

They make a big zipper type bag for the top of cars, vans, or in back if truck. I got one for Xmas one year and it works great. They hold a lot and are weather proof. Price not sure. But for homemade weather proof cheap cover.... Prob not. Just go buy some plastic bins at Dollar store and strap in bed.

Plywood cut to fit between the bed sides (sit on top of the rails) with a simple turn latch to secure it to the rail system. Use weather stripping between the plywood and the rail system so it doesn't rattle.

I've used a tarp several times to keep things dry. I get a large tarp so it goes on the floor of the bed, load it up, tie the tarp from the bottom, over the cargo, then fold the rest of the tarp from the front, over the cargo and tie to the back. That way your cargo is completely wrapped in the tarp so it can't get wet from the top or bottom.

Good Lord sometimes it's easy to overthink things. Lol

The cargo bag is a perfect idea. Thanks.

    Got one on order.
