I would love to see how NYS thinks they are going to enforce something like this. Lots of people living in rural areas of NY that have ARs shoot them on their own property. Short of catching people entering or exiting a gun range, I don't know how they expect to enforce the new registration law.

A license to drive is a priviledge, not a right.

Exactly, without a license you have no need to register a car.

Again you are arguing against a comical statement I made. Im confused as the need to respond unless it was another comical statement.

First they will try to take away so called "assault weapons" than they will go after handguns.

I believe handguns are already registered in NYS. The process to get a long gun in NY is very simple while the process to get a pistol permit takes quite a bit longer and is a lot more involved. A conceal carry permit is more difficult still.

How many people here had a rifle confiscated during the first ban? Just curious.

Your logic is seriously flawed. Driving is a priveledge. Gun ownership is a constitutional right. You do not have the right to drive, which is why you have to have a license and register your cars.

Registration does nothing to solve/prevent crime. The only reason the government wants guns registered is so they can take them away. In Canada the government often changes the classification of weapons, and then confiscates them as they are no longer legal to own. If it can happen here, it can and will happen, there unless something is done. Luckily our current government did away with the long gun registry this year, as it was nothing but a waste of tax payers money.

I never said it will or will not prevent anything. I'm merely trying to grasp where the logic comes from to make the jump from a proposal to register a certain kind of weapon turns into what some try to out out as fact that all guns will be banned and confiscated. Just trying to gather how many guns were taken away the first time with the AWB (which I suspect is none ) that leads to people pushing off as fact that this time around not only will those guns be actually confiscated but handguns will be as well.

I dont understand the point of shooting someone over that, but everyone has their opinions I guess. And again the car comment was a joke as I have said so please dont take offense.
