I bought a kit that allowed me to hook a garden hose up just before the water pump. Thermostat removed. Filled it, pulled lower radiator hose so it could drain rapidly, refilled and started the engine while the puke tank overflowed, ensuring it was getting a full flush.

Then, removed the garden hose kit, drained the whole system, filled it with distilled water, let the engine run, drained it again.

Finally, filled it with 4 gallons anti freeze (since total capacity is 8 gallons), then filled it to capacity with distilled water. I figured there must be a big bubble because it only took about 2 gallons of water initially. I let it run for quite a while with the lid off. But a powerstroke's cooling system is so efficient, it literally could take 30 minutes for it to reach operating temp at idle. And maybe not even then in the temps we've been having.

It could just be air working its way out. But the timing was just terrible.

So, I parked it for the night (fortunately I wasn't far from home), leaving the cap off the puke tank so it can vent whatever air might work its way out overnight.

Also, I should note: There is NO radiator cap. The cap on the puke tank is the only cap in the system. But that cap is still the high point in the system unless you're pointed severely downhill.

Yeah, forgot about the whole diesel thing..

I'm still leaning towards some form of bubble, though. Honestly, that's about all the input I can give you.

You'll get it figured out! I know how frustrating this stuff can be, just finally got around to removing my rear 3rd member and installing my new ARB'd 4.88 3rd... Turns out the pinion yokes are completely different bolt patterns!

Random time to cut in, but I'm new to the forum and recently got a Black trd off road doublecab after my dad crashed my old cherokee, just wanted to introduce myself. Also if any of you guys know of any good light off road trails that allow camping in Oregon that would be great!

    Welcome!

I'm in Tualatin near the Portland area and a buddy and me are going to Browns Camp on Wednesday. I asked the same question and only got answered with trails for experienced offroaders and not any novice/easy trails. Hopefully some more guys chime in!

Came out of an '01 4x4, with the same "8.4" diff.

Toyota changed pinion yoke bolt pattern in '02, (I think)..

Going to have JT's put a new yoke in it, should bolt right in.

Just got off the phone with Opie at JTs, they seem like a good bunch of guys.

Hey accidentally misquoted me for a 7.5" IFS diff, our trucks have an 8"... He took of $75 on the 4.88s and install kit, and took $25 off the High Output ARB compressor!

It's little things like that that make the difference.

Should be on the way down there for Thursday!

I am too. They got trails ranging from easy to hard from what I've seen.

How so? Am I getting excessive swr because of insufficient ground plane? I've grounded the mount to chassis.

When you remove the ground mount to chassis, what happens to your SWR?

Sounds like you may have a couple different things affecting you.

I would think lack of a ground plane would give you crap reception but causes some different symptoms than poor grounding of the antenna wire.

I'm slightly confused by the statement 'the radio stayed on, even when I took the ground lead of 12V outlet". However I suck at electrical so maybe I should stop in case I have awful advice.

Disregard that statement about the "staying on"..

This CB is grounded redundantly, through the ground lead off 12 volt outlet, and through the antenna shielding...

Going to go out an fiddle with it some more later this afternoon, I've spent so much time on it that it's starting to frustrate me. Good news is that I'll be regeared and have my ARB rear in by Thursday. ARB compressor too!

I'm leaning towards defective CB - have a new one on exchange from Best Buy on it's way here.

    Fixed.

Crappy molded PL-259 coax connector cable.

Spent the extra $3 for premium cable and had about 1.5 SWR across the board.

Let this be a lesson. Don't be a cheap prick. With CB cable.
