Got a kindle fire hd for xmas....got suggestions?

Well, the inlaws got me a kindle fire HD (I was speechless), they also got my better half a nice canon dslr and 2 additional lenses.

Anyhow, anyone have any tricks on making this thing more useful?

Im kinda scared to root it already....I've rooted every droid phone I've ever had with no bricks....but im new to this kindle thing.

I did sideload dolphin and an older version of flash since flash didn't/wont work on the default browser and iirc adobe washed their hands of support.

So, what are some cool tricks/apps?

Can it be used with a dongle and the torque app like we use on android phones?

Ill happily listen to rooting advice too, so don't take this post as me saying "I wont root"....im just a lil skerd.

I have the original fire and i rooted and installed the jellybean 4.2 with the AOPK rom and love it. Much more customizable. Only complaint is its a little slow now and gets glitchy sometimes, but i dont think thats the software. It also then allows you to use google play, which i like better for music than Amazon. Im not sure you can do the same thing to the HD, but im sure if not it has its own thing.
