Has anyone mounted a rotopax container on a bajarack? I am sure I can make it work, just wanting to know if one of the rotopax mounts will work, or if I am going to need to fab something up.

Does anyone have OEM rack with a ski rack - Yakima/Thule? Wind is howling and I'm having trouble with bluetooth phone conversation at highway speeds. Does the fairing/deflector work? It's about $85 and 50" long....Thanks.

hey ive looked all over and cant seem to find confirmation. i just got an oem roof rack used from a guy and am confused on the weight capacity for it. i know it says 100lbs on the crossbars, but i am wondering if that is for the rack total or if it is 100lbs for each crossbar so a total of 200lbs for the system? could someone help me clarify this?

    as always thanks.

I haven't used the fairing with a Tacoma OEM roof rack, but in my experience with several other vehicles, they have the potential to make a tremendous difference.

As someone who used to sell Yakima and Thule racks, in my experience, the effectiveness of a fairing varies depending on the vehicle. Some don't need one as they're quiet without, some do, and on others that need noise reduction, they don't work at all. I used to sell the rack without and encourage buyers to come back if noise was a problem.

It's a bit tricky for factory racks, but I would then loan them out to customers for test drives.

Depending on what clips you require (determined by the type of crossbars you have--round, square or aero) they're pretty universal. If you know anyone with the fairing, see if it will fit your truck and borrow it...otherwise, pick up a set of clips to adapt it, borrow the fairing and only buy one if you find it helps. At least then you'd only be on the hook for the clips.

    Good luck.

My truck looks good with a rack. I like the way the OEM rack folds into the sides to get rid of wind noise. Thats a big plus the other racks dont offer.

    Thanks Whiteneck....

I have the OEM oval crossbars and the Yakima fits well. Bought the ski rack at REI, maybe they'd let me return if it doesn't work for me...

I've had this rack on for a while now. It makes no noise on the highway up to 100mph, supports 300lb person on one crossbar.

I can custom cut anything into the visor or recess an led bar.

I'm getting into skiing. What would be a good roof rack for skis?

EDIT: To go with OEM roof rack. How much would they run for? Never really priced roof racks.

Thule 480r kit. Drove over 800 miles on vacation with speeds up to 80 and also some offroad with two 57lbs 14 ft kayaks. No damage and no issues.
I do not leave the rack on when there is no immediate plan for use.
Long term plan is a canopy with Thule tracks.

I have a Baja Rack utility rack over the cab, low profile, zero wind noise, super versatile. And a Yakima rack over the camper shell, works great for snowboards, skiis, surfboards etc. I'm really loving the combo. Baja rack's mounting is spot on and painless, takes less than 10 min. I've had all kinds of different stuff up there, including this setup vvv for 3 weeks and 3k miles over rough terrain in Baja. Love it!

So the factory roof mounts support a RTT I see.

sooooo, can anyone tell me what the weight rating is for the oem roof racks are? i know it says 100lbs on each crossbar but is that 100lbs total for the entire system or 100lbs for each bar so 200lbs total? anyone know?

sorry if this has been covered before and yes i did try to search but i bought mine used and cant find any info on it that is a definitive answer.

    thanks to any help!

I opted for a BajaRack as well. I got the variant with the mesh floor design. I like the versatility of being able to use the space above the cab. And with the Bajarack's design and layout I have a lot of flexibility on how I choose to use it. :)

I love that mesh floor. I almost went for it, but damn! They jack up the price for it!
