also the sad thing is that most of the people that are hardcore anti-same sex marriage are also staunch republican and want less government regulating things....and isnt that what this would be considered? marriage regulation

"Marriage" is defined as is a social, religious, spiritual or legal union of individuals that creates kinship.

    I stand corrected.

its ok...it happens from time to time...lol. everyone has their opinions on this and they all should be heard. eventhough i am for same sex marriage, i'm glad that miss cali had the "balls" to stand up and say what she believes in. Perez and Paris Hilton need to both be punched in the face...different reason of course, but ya get my drift.

i'm one of the ones that actually got away from the south and lived a real life. plus my mom is gay, so that kinda makes a diference..lol. i've also dated/been engaged to a black/mex chick and married a mex/white chick. too many people are set in their ways and dont realize that no matter how hard they try to stay in the dark ages, things will change with or without them.

I agree 100%! But again, let's call it something other than marriage. You can say it's the same over and over until the sun burns out, but it's just not. Minority groups and individuals should have the same rights as the majority, no more, no less. We are all human. But to equate my marriage to a gay couple co-habitating is simply disenguous and laughable. It is designed to accomplish nothing more than to "force" man/woman couples to mentally accept same sex couples as "the same in every respect". And that just ain't gonna happen.

Your anti-conservative/Republican panties are showing....that's an assumption based on stereotypes mostly established by the "liberal media" (and I would glad to debate the factual liberal media issue). I'm a card carrying American Republican and I don't have any problems with gays having equal rights. Just don't call it marriage. My bet is that the vast majority of Republicans are actually quite moderate in their views....like me! :)

I have lived in NC for 10 years and would beg to differ. As as example, forced federal mandated busing - Charlotte was the first - was dismissed by the courts here after 20+ years BY VIRTUE OF DEMANDS OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY. Getting off topic...but segregation in my experience is much more complex than "whites putting down blacks", etc. When free to integrate, we don't. Why? Is it because we are culturally different despite having the same desires for health, home, security, wealth, family, and employment?

Why is your marriage different than that between two same sex members. The only difference that I see is the ability to have children. We are still speaking of two loving people dedicated to each other in a legal and emotional bond.

Again, I agree. Just don't call it marriage. This is exactly what I was talking about. Even those of us that agree are pushed to accept the word marriage. This is and can be nothing more than brow beating everyone to make it equal in rights AND mind. I am rapidly coming to the belief that the whole same-sex equal rights marriage thing is a red herring. What is actually being done is forcing people's belief's to change - as is being done to poor Ms. Calif. It's not enough to accept same-sex marriage, we have to kneel at the feet of gay's and wash them too?

my question is how do you try to outlaw this on a belief? If a belief is the reason to not have same sex marriage. Then who is to say a belief of same sex marriage is wrong? This whole world of different beliefs through different gods or holy people or different values is what different people Believe< so how do you differ on someones belief that no one on earth can prove

I don't get the knees at gay's feet and wash them thing, so I will ignore it.

If you don't want to call it marriage, than don't. I don't give a crap what word is used, the issue, I believe is equal rights. That is the right to sharing health insurance, filing joint taxes, lack of sex. All of the things that legally joined couples, no matter what sexual orientation, have.

While I do not understand your issue with using the word marriage, I will respect it.

Ms. California has every right to express her feelings on the situation. I applaud her for standing by the convictions and beliefs with which she was raised, even if I disagree with her. Perez Hilton is a D-bag for condemming her beliefs and right to express them in the interest of protecting his own.

Perez Hilton is much of the reason people hate gays, considering no one in the gay community has spoken out against him...as best I can tell. (I won't attempt to explain the foot washing).

Perez Hilton did more damage to homosexuals than they yet realize - he alienated moderates and exposed the pernicious ambitions of the gay lobby.

you are completely disagreeing with yourself. equal rights would be marriage. there is no way around it. anything less than an equal marriage is not equal rights. turn that any way that you would like, but its not equal. marriage is a LEGAL benefit

apparenly they cant see or disregard that we have both said she should be applauded for standing up for what she believes in and that Perez is a complete douche

Feelings or marriage have nothing to do with it. Homosexuality in its own sense has to do with sexual prference. There is the vast majority of us that have the sexual preference that God intended for us to have. And for those of us there is no issue about getting married, having families, having kids and we don't have threads on forums eighter, no reason for it.
And then as far as sexual preference is concerned, we have some mutations amongst us and those are:
-people who's sexual preference are animals
-people who's sexual preferance are dead people
-people who's sexual preference are toddlers and children and sometimes even babies.
-people who's sexual preference are people of the same gender

All the people in the above mentioned categories are legitimately fizicaly attracted and sexualy aroused by the other party in their category. It is their sexual preference dictated by their hormons. What technicaly sets homosexuals apart from the rest is the fact that the other party in their category is someone that accepts that ideea the same way they do. You couldn't get an animal, a dead person or a kid to agree with it. But if you did, would that make it better? If your next door neighbour would have a fetish about a little 5 year old girl and would get sexualy aroused everytime he saw her but would never act on it by actually commiting rape, would that make him less of a sick person. He would be just as sick i the head, he just would not be a criminal.

Under the ignorance flag that rises mighty in this era we tend to play the "i don't give a shit" card a little to much and forget about logic, morals, laws and most of all just common sense.

Nobody will ever take a gay's right to be gay. They should be thankfull enough for that and try to fit in rationaly and quietly the best they can rather than ask the majority to change their laws in order to sustain gay lifestyles.

Homosexuality, nah, I don't get it. It definately isn't for me. Then again, there's a whole list of stuff that ain't for me. But I'm sure everything on that list is absolutely A-OK with some people somewhere. Just because I don't do it doesn't make me think I can tell you that you shouldn't do it. If you don't agree with same sex marriage then don't marry the same sex. If you don't agree with abortion then don't have one. (I'll never understand how a man could possibly think he should decide whether a woman should have an abortion or not. Who would know better than the woman?) If you don't agree with drinking on Sunday then don't drink on Sunday. One size does NOT fit all. It is your book that says "judge not lest........................"

i'm anti-religion being forced upon anyone when they do not believe in the same and who are the ones that tend to do that?? the Reps. most of them only change their stances on anything (like all politicians) once they are caught doing whatever they were standing against. but since this is a marriage post, we'll leave it at that. per statistics, marriage is far from sacred and they should be as miserable as everyone else. full marriage=equal rights, not 3/4 of the way there like you want.

    1. Make "same-sex unions" legal. Call them "Same-Sex Unions".
    2. I saw exactly where posters pissed on Perez....the difference is that I not only piss on Perez, I STAND WITH MS. CALIF.
