4" suspension lift. Good idea?

I am looking at getting a 4" suspension lift on my 2013 Tacoma. I've heard and read good and bad things. Will I have to have the transmission regeared? Loss of power? I'm thinking 32s or 33s. I have 245/75/16r on now. Will I have to get new wheels?

 

Who makes it? BDS? If you're just running 33s you shouldn't need to regear.

Is this a 4.5" drop bracket lift?

 

Don't know much about their lift. Have you considered any other lifts? Any particular reason for this one? People tend to steer clear from drop bracket lifts but it's your truck. Some guys also run the 4.5 inch RCD drop bracket lift on here, you should be able to get plenty of info from them.

I'm assuming your going with spindles? if your gonna run 33's you will have some loss of power and lotsa loss of gas. I have spindles with billies at 1.75 and 33's. I go real easy on the pedal. so in reality i never notice the loss of power.hahaha

To keep my truck in warranty The dealership said I have to go to a certain company who deals with BDS lifts. It is the 4" drop bracket

 

Whats your reasoning for going with a 4" drop bracket over a 3" suspension lift? I'm not saying that it is a bad choice, just wondering what you want out of the lift

hu??that's weird. never had any problems with warranty issues with my lift. they won't warranty any issues that the lift causes or the lift parts but everything else should be covered

 

Wow seriously? Damn, strict dealership. As far as new wheels go, all I can see is max 4.5 backspacing, I don't know if those numbers are recommendations or what. I'd say call them direct. I don't know, maybe someone who actually has this kit will stop by

Do you have to cut the crossmember with this kit like other drop bracket lifts? If so the warranty thing is BS. And 3" block in the rear? :/

 

x2 I love my spindles and they give you more ground clearance than drop bracket.

 

I'm gonna assume yes...and that was what I was thinking, and 3 inch spacers in front? No wonder not too many people run it

I'm not seeing the spacer up front. I'm seeing $1300 Fox coilovers. It's a nice lift if your getting a db lift

So the dealership wants you to use this lift to keep warranty, but to install the kit it will require MAJOR modifications to the truck. Once the lift is installed it will probably never be going back to stock. You should find out more from the dealership and try to reason with them or the lift shop. If you want a lift to run 33's then a drop bracket lift probably isnt worth it, you can accomplish this for cheaper with a 3" lift and have more ground clearance. Like others said spindle lifts are always a good choice for pre runners
