alpine power pack?

i like the idea of a simple install that this would provide.
i have a kenwood dnx6990hd headunit and it will make the factory speakers loud, but once i swap them out, the aftermarket speakers will be under powered.

i figure with a basic set of components and a pair of 2 way coax in the doors, with sound deadening, it should greatly improve the sound.

 

I have it in my truck and it definitely brings some life to the stock speakers. I'm planning of upgrading the stock speakers with a pair of low power components and they should be plently loud and rich for me.

 

The power pack is awesome. I've been using one through 3 systems. Plug and play if you have an alpine and it can be wired in. Read some reviews. Their all good.

 

Great little amp. Easy to intall and easy to hide away. Powers my alpine components just fine.

 

great to hear! i don't plan on "waking the neighbors" with my stereo, i just want to get some enhancement from my stereo. i figure if the speakers i am looking at have a RMS range of XX-70w i should be good with 45w.

where have yal mounted the power pack in your trucks?

 

yeah for $150 they do the job rather nice.

Edit: I don't have one but I heard one in an Acura RSX before and after. The after was a big difference.

 

I mounted mine on top of the inside part of the glove box. It sits just below the passenger airbag when the glove box is closed. I used the mounting screws that came with the power pack. It makes it very easy to adjust since I just need to pull the glove box to access the amp.

 

matadorCE, can you snap some pictures of it? im having a hard time picturing it

 

I have mine mounted in the same location! I used heavy duty mounting tape. 2 years running and powers my kicker components/kick 2 ways just fine. Good enough for me.

 

I'll see if I can snap some pics tonight. To try to give you a better idea, if you pull out your glove box I mounted it on the other side of the top of the glove gox (the side facing the airbag and cabling inside the center console).

 

Just wondering if any of ya'll are using the power pack with the factory radio and you thoughts if you are?

It makes a huge difference for something so easy to install. I've had the same Alpine Power Pack in my Tacoma, 4Runner, and now Acura Rsx. Night and day difference.

 

ok so i just saw the power pack in person, thought it was bigger, ha.

while reading up on it on crutchfields website, it says it can be run at 90x2 in a bridged setup? has anyone done this? i plan to only run front speakers and the speakers i plan on getting have a rms of xx-80 watts with a peak of 150w. so this would be perfect.

i will be asking the person at crutchfield about this as well, but would like to get input from people who are not trying to get my business even though the folks at crutchfield have been nothing but helpful so far.

 

I had the previous version (without the "U" in the part number) that wasn't universal; the leads just had Alpine connectors on them. I was going to cut the ends off and wire to my Pioneer deck, until I found out my deck already puts out 50 watts on each channel already, so I turned around and sold it on eBay for $80

 

i wish i had an alpine headunit for the plug and play application ha, but boosting the 15w RMS the head unit does to the advertised 90wx2 (bridged) will be a vast improvement

 

What head unit do you have? I didn't know there was a head unit with that kind of output.

 

Where did you see that you could bridge the amp (safely)? I would like to do this if its possible.

stumbled across the bridging part last night and verified with a crutchfield rep today before i placed my order.

 

thats peak power, rms is 14w. which is about the norm. for the majority of headunits from what ive seen.
