Pardon my ignorance, but what is the need for 4x4 in Texas? :notsure: Up here it is to get milk and water during a snowstorm, but 99% of the time 2wd is fine, even wheeling. And yes I am legitimately asking.
We usually do not get plain snow. We do get a lot of ICE storms though so driving in 4x4 really helps in that situation. Plus our mud around here is not like others mud, ours sticks to you so when it does rain it makes a very sticky mess mud wise.

I would not have purchased my truck without it, actually during the buy the salesman kept pushing, "Why does it have to be 4x4?". The wife spoke up and told him to get off the "you don't need 4x4", "he does need it where he goes!". :)

Those mountains in the background are in Texas and there is a lot more rolling terrain known as "hill country" that can challenge any 4WD.

Don't quote me 100% but I'm pretty sure access cab and dcsb are the same in length for step bars and sliders, that may be why the box only said access cab

Oh Thanks a lot!!! Here I am in frigid Iowa and you have to remind me of Big Bend and the two February trips I made to ride my dual sport. For those that haven't been there, WOW! Worth the trip especially for us of the northern persuasion for a winter get away. Emphasis on the GET AWAY.

Gotcha, yeah I'm def going to scrap the block and get a new leaf pack, I'm also debating doing the 884 coils with 5100 but I may just save it for some icon co, all I know is I need new shocks, front are shot since they went from spacer to none, the stress wrecked them and my rear is so harsh on every bump cuz they are too short

Best part about being in Iowa, if you don't like the weather, it'll change in a day or two!

I saw, you got a lot of answers on this one, but from someone who doesn't nor hasn't lived there, I was shocked when I visited some friends a few years back, in San Antonio. It's funny what you expect, and than what you see. I expected all flat dry and brown, with ranches and cowboys running around. LOL. Boy was I wrong. Made me realize my ignorance, when it comes to other states.

Hell yeah my ass end feels like its gonna fall apart when I hit a bump! Maxtrac should just sell extended shocks with their spindles for the rear bc it's bad! I know they sell a 6" kit which has the rear shocks in it as well. I would love to do a full leaf pack in the rear to provide 4-5" of lift but they are a little out of my budget right now.....trying to add the rest of the lift for around $500 (front and rear shocks, new coils and either aal or 4" block) gonna be tough to do I think.......thoughts??

yeah, but this time of year the changes aren't necessarily welcome. snow, freezing rain, warm with slop, bitter cold with wind. wasn't my idea of staying here after retirement.

excuse the lack key board skill i have a 7 mo old on my knee occupying one hand. my idea was south in the winter and 'up nort' in the summer.

about jan. feb i get the vehicle lust and have been thinking about a new tacoma. but i cant find a good reason especially since spdwy blue is not offered. wife suggested i get a 4x4 this time, i told here i have no use for 4x4. don't live in texas, utah, out west where i could put it to use. don't need to access the back forty to feed the critters, cause i got neither, dont need it to get to work on the few snowy nasty days a year. just walk out the door 30 yds to the shop, work a little, nap some, at worst wait a couple of days and the weather will change. AND if I really need 4X4 there's always Clementine the Kubota 2550GST with loader and blade.

Make sure the barely touch you! Doesn't take much to damage the rear bumper and I have seen several threads lately of these trucks being totaled due to frame damage from being rear ended by little cars...
