I wouldn't exactly say it is a massive difference when crawling. Yeah you have more torque and it requires less throttle but you don't exactly crawl, not like a crawlbox anyway. I wouldn't call it night and day but yeah a little better.

On street however... that is a night and day difference!:D

    Auto!

I think crawling will be a big difference, considering in 1st gear 4lo I idle along at like 10 mph...

You are 35's correct??? Does the auto always want to shift up when you are in 4hi??

35s yeh. I keep the knob in the "L" position so it won't go out of 1st. Otherwise it definitely will.

I can creep off some steep stuff in 4Lo and 1st gear at about 7 mph with the 4.88's but that is far too fast to be crawling off of rocks and obstacles at places like Moab and such, and it still won't idle itself uphill like a crawl box.

With a 4.7 crawlbox in compound low and first gear, the motor will actually push through your brakes at idle. You literally have to shift into neutral to stop.

Like I said the extra torque is awesome! but it really doesn't hold you back that much better than the 3.73's when creeping along.

^ so even when you are driving with the big tires do you still notice a power loss even with 4.88 in the dirt??

Power loss? Not at all. In gravel I can break both rear tires loose (with the locker engaged) at at least 40mph. It feels a lot more powerful than factory:D

4.88's with the auto tranny should feel about like factory with 40's (minus the weight difference between 40's and factory tires of course). Any tire smaller than a 40 and 4.88's are over compensating basically. Regearing is too damn expensive to just go.with 4.10's though and there are no 4.30's for our clamshells so go big or go home:notsure: :D haha
