I hope you are right and im just over-stressing it!
I have my doubts because with all the demand right now i cant see manufacturers putting any efforts on NJ compliant rifles vs making rifles that can be sold in the whole contry except for a hand full of states…..

From www.carolinashooterssupply.com they didn't have any kits in stock, so I just pieced together everything. Which I liked better because I didn't like their combos anyway.

A 17HMR will set it off at closer ranges. More than 50 yds and it's a coin toss. We were shooting a 2 1/2 lb'er at 100 yds with a 17 and it wouldn't set it off, so we kept moving it in 10 yds till it went off. 40 yds is waaaaaay too close to the house for a 2 1/2 lb'er! If you don't mind my asking, what did each of those cost you? I happen to know the formula to make your own. Just tough to acquire the main ingredient anymore.

I paid 25 for the entire thing, place I bought it accidently ordered 20 cases or starter packs instead of 20 packs. I know how to make my own too, but I am currently in college and it makes more sense for me to get smaller amounts like this.....I could order a 1 lb thing of aluminum powder and get some 34-0-0 fertilizer in a 50 lb bag and shoot to my hearts content...I may do that this summer, I'll just have to look up the ratios.

I've never shot it and figure It's safer to start like this. And if the 17 will set it off at 50 I'll be happy, those targets are going to be split in half at those ranges, though I will be shooting a half pound at 100 to begin with to see if I can set it off...cci game points, TNT, or hornady xtp 20 grainers.....decisions decisions.

I dont buy from them anymore either....unless they have .22 ammo, I am to a point where I will buy it if I can find it...no matter where it is from, that is the only exception

Good luck with the 17. You may consider meplating the bullets to make the bullet tips flatter and a little wider, which will give you a little more 'shock' upon impact. The make-your-own is all about the ratio. And a side note, there is nothing illegal about making your own for personal use. You are aware that 45-0-0 will not work, right?

I know that the 45-0-0 won't work, I won't even try to make my own until I have my personal range set up....then it is fun time

My family has about 55 acres out in the county, I have a nice gorge that I think I can get a 200 yard range with a small mountain as a backstop....if anyone is back there they are trespassing

I'd never thought of modifying the 17s, I think I am gonna try eithe cci game points or TNTs, both are 20 grain rounds

Ordered my Powder River Precision Xtreme grips on Monday evening, received them on Thursday! These things fit like a glove and feel excellent in the hand. They are black rubber, even though the flash makes them look grey. It comes with the pieces for the extended mag, and I cut out the piece for my Pierce grip extension with extras from the sheet. I would recommend them to anyone with an XD :D

Well, okay- doesn't have to be a Sig. The .22 conversions will fit onto almost any standard 1911 frame.
