Never thought about it but I don't see why not....I'd rather not but hey if that's what you want I could get that done now.....I'm just waiting on all my lightning to 30 pin converters to come in that's what's holding me up right now to start mass production....but yeah I could get you a tray and dash piece out whenever you want

But I can assure you it would be much less money than a finished one......I mean maybe $50 less?

On another note I just thought instead of the rubber trim I could just bring the felt all the way to the front so you won't be able to see the transition from fiberglass to plastic.....might look good actually ill give that a go and see how it looks....

I like the felt idea... Keep it uniform... And me personally, I would prefer the ribbon to be whichever color my dash kit is (silver or black) just to keep it even less noticeable. And if it's to long, I guess I could always trim it down...

I should finally get my damn truck this weekend, so I'll know what kind of Single DIN headunit I have and stuff, but I'm sure I will have questions concerning that and what my best option would be concerning sound...

Thanks for the video bud, it sure does look like it's coming along nicely...

    Stereo install.
Same for me. I will wait for the next gen of tablets to roll out and make a decision then. I am really torn between Android and iOS right now. Torque on Android and all the apps I already own are really pushing me that way.. If the next Nexus 7 replacement has a micro SD slot then that will be a huge factor as well. Not to mention the playstation Emulators that you can use with a PS3 controller. Though an iPad might do that too.

well I was just thinking, I want to cut out the hole for a single din stereo, so why not get it before it's felted and assembled.. less work for you and me.. but I understand you want to sell a complete product :D

How does it connect with the lightning connector, doesn't it need to swivel to fit in or does it matter?

I'm immediately regretting that decision. When this product gets done I'll be itching to own it...

Sorry, forgive me ignorance, but why will this need to be cut for a single din?!

No does not need to swivel.....the iPad will go in almost flat and has no issues lining up for the charger....that was one of my concerns before I started going down this route but its all good......I'm fiberglassing some trays now.....I permanately smell like resin nowadays haha

so I can still have access to the Sony AppRemote headunit if needed.
I don't want to be stuck needing to press a button or reset something and then have to remove the whole dash piece to get to the stereo.

There's a good reason the guys that installed the iPad mini in the Jetta with a Sony AppRemote did the exact same thing....
Or if I'm somewhere I don't want to use the iPad, I can take it off and control an iPod or .. a CD! directly from the headunit

Just a few reasons. It's mostly preference.

Tufer if you want to be able to access a single din behind the mini I can or you can cut a hole in the tray so when the mini is not in you will still have a radio ;)

Ok so 2 more questions - did you have an ipad mini mock to make the pan, or did you tape up your mini?

Also how much for a full setup?

Oooohhhhh.... I get it now. Thanks for the clarification... I'll have to look more into it when I get my truck in. But that might be useful to have access to my headunit...
