Installing Remote Start...07 Tacoma

Putting a Viper 5904 remote start/security system in my truck this weekend along with a SmartStart kit for my iPhone. Just curious if there's anything I need to look out for during my install? Also, I understand the SmartStart module has to be activated by BestBuy (such BS)...any BestBuy employees on here wanna save me the trip and the $? Or is that at all possible without having the module physically with you? Thanks in advance guys.

 

When I put a smart start in my old Mazda I was able to activate the module online at Vipers website. That was 2 years ago now though. Still haven't gotten around to getting one put in my taco, so things may have changed.

 

I'll hop online and check that out. I've had this module sitting around for at least a year and haven't gotten around to installing it. The frustrating thing is the ease of install and yet (or at least as far as I knew) you had to go to an installer. I'll check into that though.

 

Another question...I printed out the install manual for the DSM250 module that I have, but it is very vague. The picture in the manual shows the module with the power and ground wires, the harness that connects to the Viper unit, and a light and dark loop. However my actual unit has the power and ground wires, the harness that connects to the Viper unit, another 5-pin female harness, and a light and dark wire that don't loop, but just dead-end about 4-5 inches outside the unit. So what do I hook this white and grey wire up to?

 

Nobody knows how to wire up a SmartStart?

 

Does anybody know if you can put a remote start on a six speed manuel? I'm assuming you can just would like to know. Thanks

 

Yes you can you just have to hook up the e-brake and neutral sensors.
