I have had my 2012 prerunner acouple months now. I blacked out the badges, added the roof rack, skid plate, steps, and avid bar. I would like to make the truck a little taller. Just for looks. I wont be offroading so spending 1000 + for a new suspension doesnt make sense. I know this topic has been beaten to death on here but I would like to hear from a few people who have spacer kits. Please dont just bash spacer kits if you havnt had one.

Im considering the Fabtech kit below. I dont want to preload my suspension. so I want a Top spacer.

I don't know anything about spacers, but I wanted to point out that that site looks over priced. They want $55 for the diff drop.... It's only $31 from Toytech and I think its a few bucks less from Wheeler's.

Just pointing out what I saw.

Edit: I know someone will point out that they say "$55 with shipping", so I check toytech with the TW discount and shipping is $42. So they are still over priced IMO.

The extremetrucktoys website has there stuff on ebay much cheaper than they do on their website. Toytec only sells kits with the preload your suspension. I want a spacer that sits on top.

Gotcha i think your better off buying some bilstein 5100 not that expensive and way better ride than a spacer lift and most spacers are like that

Currently 3" revtek lift, plan to upgrade.
I bought the revtek 3" and am installing it now. The spacers go on top of the strut but once i get to driving it i will let you know how it rides if you remind me.

I know you said you won't be off roading so spending money on the suspension doesn't make sense but you should consider this: It's a new truck and you still want to preserve the nice ride so cheaping out on the suspension doesn't make sense either.

You can also lift the truck for less than $1,000 and still have a nice setup for on road use. Just sayin...

Rigid sr10inch, rigid duallys on cbi pillar mounts, bamf sliders, Jason cyber camper shell. 5100s at 1.75, wheelers aal 1.5 inch.
i put a 1.5 inch spacer in the front and a 2 inch block. i only did this to figure out a height i wanted it at before i jumped to buy coilovers and an aal/leafpack. and i wish i never would have.

i love the height and i loved the pricetag but thats what i got. i bought a basemodel 2012 and the factory shocks suck to begin with but it rides worse now. you can feel every bump in the front and the back is just wimpy.

i plan on going ome and wheelers 1.5 aal. i plan to drop it just a tad in the front to save the cvs

afe pro dry, weather tech floor liners,5100's on all four corners@ 0, eibach 620 coils. toytec 3/4" spacer driver/s & passenger/s, rear spring tsb w/toytec 1" blocks, 4runner sport wheels, in channel vent visors, 1.25 spidertrax wheel spacers on the front, Wet Okole's, smity tow hook.
I'd consider 5100's. Yes they do pre-load your coils, but your still get better ride/handle then a spacer lift IMO.

Im getting 5100's on the front tomorrow to bring it up 2.5 inches to match the back at 4wheelparts. Im thinking about doing rims and tires at the same time. Does anyone know how big I can go on the tires with only a 2.5 inch lift on the front? Also if I stuck with a 265. but went 265/70 or 75/17 could I still use my stock spare 265/65/17?

    Thanks

Overall, the biggest you can go without trimming is 265/70R17. You can go taller if you go skinnier or start messing with different backspacing.

Can't help you on the spare part. The new vehicles with their brake-activated LSD might be an issue.

pretty sure you can do 285 with that lift. needs some trimming and new rims or spacers on the stock ones. rubbing will be minimial on your mall crawling expeditions.

well your spare is a spare, so if you ever needed it theres no harm in limping home on the stock one.

Thanks for the input. I will talk to the guys at the store to. I dont mind taking off the mud flaps to make some bigger tires work. Hopefully I dont have to upgrade the spare to.

I'm running 275/70/17 (32.4") with my setup, with no rub. I'm right around 2.5" of lift. Also you could run 255/85/16 or 255/80/17

If I do the 5100's set at 2.5 on just the front with stock coils will I be level or Nose high with the stock 3 leaf pack.

is the stock 3 leaf pack all you have in the back? not doing an AAL or a block or something?

if your doing nothing in the back, id guess your in danger of being nose high. I doubt the rake on your truck is 2.5" tho. its prolly more like 1.5 but that varies a little.

I dont have direct experience with the 5100s tho so I cant help you with those sorrys.

I don't understand why you guys are saying a spacer is going to make your ride better... it won't change it at all from stock, its just moving the coil and shock down, so the coil is the same.. and shock is the same except being too long under fully compressed but you aren't going to off road anyway so Im sure that wont happen that much.

This is where it all started for me. Now im on my second tacoma and 3rd suspension on the second tacoma. Now I have been around the block and I am the one advising on lifts. The funny thing is I honestly thought I wouldnt be offroading.
