This is a two part question.

I am thinking of doing some type of DRL mod on my 97 Taco. But, I have seen on here, people are disabling their stock DRLs. Just wondering why that is?

If I do decide to do a mod, I have seen a couple of ideas on here that I am not too particularly fond of and have also seen several standalone LED DRLs online. I am wondering what DRL mods you guys have done to your Tacos?
    Pics would be helpful.

I have DRLs and they get annoying sometimes, you cant shut them off when pulling up to somewhere with windows and people right in front of you and they just get annoying sometimes.

They also tend to melt the lenses after a while. Those things get HOT!

Didn't know they were that bright. That might not be a problem for me, because I plan on having the DRLs turn off when I my parking lights turn on.

They are your normal lights basically. They get a little brighter when you turn the switch all the way. Just a little

2012 and 2013 2nd gen have all new headlamp design and I haven't seen an issue
anywhere that these new drl's have a melting problem...

Honestly, the trouble isn't worth it. DRL's can melt the lens/housing they are in.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I was thinking this exact same thing. Some of them look really cool. Maybe an LED strip of some kind. My quandry is - where to put them? No place I've looked seems like it would look good on this truck. So, it just went in the "possible future mod" bucket.

That's where I am at. Put them on the back burner, as well.

I have seen some, where guys have placed stand alone DRLs in between the bumper and the valance on each side of the license plate. Which looks all right. But, I have a set of AUX lights in the same place. Plus I want the DRLs to be up higher, like around the headlights height. Thinking, the higher they are, the easier they will be seen. Just like the front turn signals on our trucks.
