So what price would I be looking at for one of your plug and play ready kits with the cutout for my double din radio?

I may be having a brain fart but short of going back and reading the whole thread again, does my double din need a USB input for the iPad? Probably a dumb question....

No it does not just a 3.5mm or RCA input for sound

    Now I definitely want one!!!!

RCA would probably be best for sound quality, right?

I'd doesn't matter the audio output will be coming through the lightning connector which is digital then converted to 3.5 or RCA.......don't think there will be much of a difference but yeah I would do RCA if you can

    Yo bk,

I'm eventually wanting to do a backup camera just for safety... It would be badass if it could work with the iPad. Is this do-able/feasible?

I've mentioned this in another thread and a guy has sent me links to equipment that will convert the rca cables to usb, etc etc...

But I figured since you're mocking this up, you might be able to pinpoint the answer quicker.

My truck currently has no hardware for a backup camera, so it would all be from scratch. Is this possible?

    SON OF A!!!!!

Some people have said stuff like Bluetooth camera, but I don't really know if that's possible. Haven't researched it enough... Just throwing it out there though.

I could probably buy the setup with the rear view mirror, someone has one for sale right now... But they want $295!

Yeah I have been looking to do this too. Actually I want to do multiple cameras for spotting.

The cameras are cheap, but no simple way to interface with the iPad. IP cameras or Bluetooth cameras are a possibility, but if $295 seems expensive for the in-mirror solution you probably won't like the price point.

There was one video on YouTube where a guy in a jk jeep had a camera displaying on the iPad through some kind of converter box, but he didn't explain any details.

Is there a way to do this without using a head unit? I don't care about FM radio or CD players. I'd rather just dock the iPad mini and also have my steering wheel functions.

x2 I'm really liking where this thread is evolving to. My thoughts/questions are, and pardon me if they've been asked/answered, I did read the whole thread just trying to keep up best I can with all this technology.
I'd love to have just the mini as my head unit(no single din.) Still be able to use my steering wheel controls and handsfree phone capability. I currently have a Kicker HideAway http://www.crutchfield.com/S-80Ze0jjhid7/p_20611HS8/Kicker-11HS8.html self contained sub tied into my oem non JBL stereo. And how does this work/not work with my factory Sat. radio subscription? I'm wondering if going the mini route will do away with my need for the stock antena(wondering if I could replace it with a cb antena.)
Bottom line is I'm cheap and want to keep it simple and don't want to give up any luxuries.
    Awesome thread!!!

I should of specified, I'm cheap but I want it done right and to look good. You know, cake and eat it.

I'm ready to see a finished product. I'm already thinking of getting the Sony GS unit that can control my radio and sat radio with the app and I would mount it behind the iPad mini. I am ready to plop down some money on this. Sign me up.
