Those seem nice. I like em, but I kinda like the other idea too. I guess its just your preference on looks. These may be easier to mount for sure. I'm a fan of Linear Optics vs these which are TIR optics, but I think actually for your purpose the TIR would suit you better. This is basically just the type of lenses on the lights. TIR makes the lights slightly less bright, but the light scatters better in all direction, which is ideal for dust lights. Linear optics are brighter but more directional and seen best from directly looking as them vs from an angle. I think these would be good. Either way really its up to you

OK check it out... your looking at $60 for these lights, about $20-30 for the flasher module, plus $60 atleast in wiring and stuff. That's $150 in parts. For that price, I HIGHLY recommend something completely different. Go to speedtechlights.com and click on grille/surface mount lights. Then click on the STL G-4. They look like this:

Now they sell for $175 plus tax and shipping. I may be able to get you 10-15% off, but can't promise anything. This includes the flash module, switch box, wiring, harness', is already weatherproof, and is a well known brand which I trust and happen to run a ton of their lighting on my vehicle. You will spend about the same amount of money, but will save the hassle of piecing things together and complex integrated wiring schematics. It will all be one solid unit, and you know the quality is top notch. I can still make these function as signals, although complicated I can do it. But the rest will of this instal will save you hours and hours of work ans headaches and I think you'll like these WAY better!

The flash patterns are built into that large amplifier, not the switch box. I have the same control box and have taken it apart. I can easily rewire it to your own custom switches. No need to use the supplied control box if you don't want. I mounted mine very clean, inconspicuous, and easily accessible, but if your set on custom switches that's not a problem..

Here is mine in case you want to save money on switches... I love it!

    IMG_1414_999b6aff3179578021403985bb31dab2b183f03e.jpg

The top is the regular on/off switch, the middle is the flash patter Changer, and the bottom is an aux switch which I wired up to my wig-wags. You would only need to replace the first 2 switches and ditch the last one. This required no cutting or permanent modifications, and is completely out of the way and not visible to other. It also lights up to indicate the lights are on, but if you want to have your own switches that's fine too.

    Nice!

I am actually thinking of just mounting them in the center console. Would be out of site and I could save a few dollars on those switches..

This setup would be way better off then all this other complicated stuff we are doing. And I really think you'll love it. And you can always remove the switch box later and add custom switches if you want down the road

As long as we can get them to do the blinkers as well I am all for this kit! When and how would you know if you can get a 10-15% discount?

You can get 15% off for sure with their refer a friend program since I've already bought from them before. I'll get more details for you. Before you purchase though, I need to double check and make sure I can turn them I to blinkers also.

Will do. What I need to verify is that I know the way these lights work, when you turn them on, the module sends constant 12+ to the lights, and pulses the ground to create the flash patter. In order to tap into 2 of the lights to create signals, I need to know if that 12+ is on all the time or just when the lights are on. If the 12v+ is constant, then it will take 1 relay per signal to just convert the + turn signal into a - signal then tap into the flashers. If the 12+ is only on when the lights are on, then it will require 2 relays per signal, 1 to supply ground to the light which is isolated from the module and 1 to supply a + turn signal which is also isolated. I also may be able to just use 1 relay and a diode instead, but I'm afraid that using the factory turn signal circuit to power the lights may cause a slow flash rate to occur due to the heavier load.

Anyways, that all probably sounded super confusing lol. My friend has the same lights (almost) so once I see him again I'll test it all on his lights to see what will be required

Being a police and fire upfitter I would recomend this flasher with any lights you want.

    Sho-Me STT Flasher

The flasher wires into your existing wiring harness for running, brake and turn signals. It will power and control the Aux lights your putting in. Flash patterns are nice and when you apply the brakes or turn signal the flashing stops, brake override. Nice feature.

    Video

Find a deal on ebay for 4 clear lense amber or red. I live in Ohio, ran red flashing lights to rear as long as I can remember. I have never been questioned about it once. But like I said I'm in Ohio.

I think this set up will give you exactly what you are looking for.

That's a great module. Only thing is op isn't trying to flash any oem lights, only add dust lights that also function as a turn signal. This is more of an OEM integration. Similar to a federal signal module I use for my wig wags front and rear.

OK, so I have tested the lights and this is what I have determined.

When your flasher (dust light) is on, the positive wire on the light is constant 12v and the negative wire to each light gets pulsed to create a flash pattern. When the lights are off, both the positive and negative wire have nothing going in them.

So, I have created a diagram real quick to show 2 different ways that it can be wired so that your turn signals will function for 1 light on each side. Now, both ways will work just fine, but one (left side of diagram below) requires 2 relays per side and the (ride side of diagram below) other requires only 1 relay and 2 diodes per side.

I believe the right side setup (2 relays) is a more stable setup being that it supplies its own power to the lights during a turn signal instead of sharing power with the OEM turn signal circuit, BUT, the left side setup is way easier and will still work just fine.

What I am going to do is see if I can build a mock relay/diode setup and sort of temporarily "bench test" both options using the lighting in this other guys truck since its the same brand and functionality. If both ways work just fine and have no negative affect on the flash rate of the turn signals or blows any fuses, then I will go the simple route and wire it like the left side. If the signals begin to flash too slow or too fast or I blow a fuse, then Ill have to use the wiring shown on the right with 2 relays.

You want as few relays as possible because every time you turn on the turn signal, you will hear the relays clicking inside the cab, so 1 is better than 2 to make it less annoying.

    u6ajupa5_e76a08ecda21d68427525a4033cb137107b26d1d.jpg

Now keep in mind that if your dust lights are OFF, then the turn signal will still work fine and the lights will flash like you want. If the dust lights are ON and you turn the signal on, it will interrupt the flash pattern ONLY for the side of the turn signal, but the other lights will continue with the normal flash pattern. This may cause the turn signal to be hardly noticeable at all on these auxiliary lights and may look kind of weird like the flash pattern is messed up. BUT, truth is, how often are you really going to be using your turn signals and dust lights at the same time?? slim to never! so I think it will be fine. Hope I explained this good enough for you to understand.

If anyone has any input or suggestions to my wiring diagram above, feel free to chime in. I may have overlooked a better option.

I'm the picture below, is this how you want the lights mounted? And if so, which ones will be used as turn signals... 1+4 or 2+3??

I honestly have been thinking about that, at first I was think 1/4 to have as blinker so it would be visible from the side. But don't know if the 2/3 would be better? What do you think? And btw let me know how the mock up goes with your buddies lights.

I would be worries about hyper flashing so if we could avoid the slow or fast blinking I don't mind listening to clicking from the relays.. Less is better but I want them to be functional..

If it were mine, I'd make 1+2 do left and 3+4 do right. If its only 1 relay per side then that is simple. If its 2 relays per side then we will have 8 relays and that will get pretty crazy. Tough decision.

Well you are half right. The flasher has input and output. The input can be wire tapped into signal wires for tail and stop and turn. See pic below. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359421086.410923.jpg
The controller does the brain work. Very easy install. All solid state and water proof. Mount anywhere.
