I've been wanting to buy a roof-top tent, http://trdparts4u.com/PD-RTT-9007.aspx?MakeID=1, here real soon and was going to mount it to my trailer (still building). Thought it would be nice to mount to the truck if I didn't want to tow a trailer if I was going out of town and camping. Then I installed my OBA and mounted the tank right in front of my rear bumper.

To me it was the best place for the tank but it could be moved. Anyways, I can no longer lower my spare with the tank in the way of the tool that lowers the spare. So I figured once I get the tent it wouldn't be mounted all of the time and could throw my spare, coolers and such up on a bed rack. So I decided to make one. Tell me what you think.

Looks a thousand times better than the first rack I made for my Jeep. Great Job. I just have one critique though. I would keep an eye on that red hose. I have been through thousands of feet of that stuff and it deteriotes and cracks with little time. I would just keep my eye on it. Maybe even wrap it. Otherwise, awesome. Your fab skills are a work of art.

Thanks guys! Hope to build something similar for the offroad trailer. For now this adds alot of storage room.

Probally just put a t-slot into the rail and and bolted it up that way.

by doing it that way, do you have any idea how much weight the rack can hold? i know all the weight is on the bed and not on those pathetic rails but just curious on to what the average wight is that a rack can hold?

Well, i know those bed cleats can apparently hold 200lbs, so i would think atleast that much. Some guys tie down there mtorcycle using the rail. It has to be somewhat strong lol.

Wow. Haven't been in a while. To answer the questions I have no idea how much weight it would hold. I think I may have had 300-400 at one time. I just tweaked the tied down cleats to secure to the bed rail. Just didn't use the cleat and subbed in a grade 8 nut and torqued it down.
