I was thinking the main tank would be the only tank, 1 fuel pump 1 tank. Put some BFG KM2 50'' tires on there and 3 lockers Sweet!:D

    1 tank, 1 pump = no redundancy=fail
50 inch tires = regearing= such low gas milage, may as well keep your stock tacoma.

Your right I keep forgetting about the 1000's of gas tanks that fail every year, its a big problem you would think a manufacturer would recognize it and build a vehicle with an extra tank.

Same with the fuel pump, man those things drop like fly's in today's vehicles you should have at least 3 if not 4 on hand before you take your truck on an Expedition to the Grand Canyon.

I usually trailer a second truck, then in the truck I put dirtbikes, on the back I attach Mt. Mt. Bikes and lastly I carry a pogo stick just in case I mean you never know.

    :D

Nah come on ,just gotta lighten things up a bit, people get a little to wrapped or warped if you will up in some of this stuff.

I'm sure somebody needs a $2500 gas tank for a tacoma we just have not found a good reason why. Except, just cuz. Maybe thats enough. :)

too big and to many angles, and has to be steel !!!

aluminum ? there is a reason cars don't have aluminum tanks

aluminum stress cracks and has sudden failures

just driving down the road with that thing full is going to start
    the cracking process.

good luck with sale, but fabricating a gas tank this size is a gigantic
liability and safety issue. and it needs to be made of steel unless it is
a cylinder. those square angles + aluminum is disaster.

needs internal bladder, internal cell structure or baffles if you stick with aluminum

He should have got 2 35 gallon tanks then he would have an extra 9 gallons which could mean the difference between making it all the way from coast to the other, or falling short and having to walk the last few miles.

Also he would have "redundancy" in case on of those tanks failed, unless of course the good tank is already empty in which case he should just carry a couple jerry cans, or stop to fill up somewhere between San Diego and New York...

Does a a 61 gallon tank come with a box of depends or would you really have to just stop anyway? Also when he does have to fill up does he have a book on tape to listen to or does he learn a second language while he waits?

I try to eat all my food on Monday so I don't have to eat again until the next Monday its a huge time saver. I'm looking to have a second stomach installed so maybe I could go a full two weeks between meals and I would have redundancy in case one stomach gets an ulcer. You can never be too prepared.

that made me laugh so hard :p I have no clue why someone needs that kind of tank for a tacoma. The 350 is used for long hauls and he sleeps in the cab. Being that it is diesel it actually doesnt take long to fill because diesel pumps are faster than gas pumps.

We do over 300 miles in the Mojave desert in a weekend. getting shitty MPG we carry about 10-15 gallons of extra gas. 20 + 15 = 35 how convenient for some people.

Might not be practical for you mall crawlers but people who actually go 'froading for a weekend could easily use something like this especially if they dont want to permanently lose bed space.

Would need a super skidplate under that too. Nothing like spilling 35 gallons of gas on a high center or rock
