What a crappy weekend. I have had my 09 truck for only 5 months now and already it has been injured.

I had just parked in front of my sons house to drop him off. As we took off our seatbelts I was waiting for cars to go by before exiting. 2 cars went past and then I saw this little red car coming straight at me in my mirror. I knew she wasnt going to stop so I throw myself across the seats to hold my son back in his seat. I didnt want him going through the windshield. She smacked me at 35mph while we were stopped.

She went under my truck far enough that she knocked my rear mud flaps off. Looks like I will need obviously a new bumper and trailer hitch, but new quarter panels on both sides. Cant open the tail gate and my tonneau is sticking up also. It pushed the entire bed forward into the back of the cab. Didnt crush it just bowed out both quarters and slid it forward.

I strained my back real bad and got a gash in my head. Kinked my neck to the point the ambulance took me to the emergency room. Luckily nothing was broke as far as I can tell. I just ache all over from muscle pains.

17 yr old girl talking on her phone and said she didnt see my white truck sitting on the side of the road. Hmmmmmmm

Well, I was waiting for that first scratch so its game on now. Time for the ARB bumpers, rock sliders, and a winch. Its fair game to 4 wheel now without guilt of scratching it.

Good news is my son is ok, my 225 lbs protected him from any harm. Im sure once i get off these Loratabs I will get well faster. Just wanted to update you on my weekend activities. No pics yet, I havent been outside since I really havent been able to get up and move around to freely yet.

He is 16, but as a dad he could have been 35 and I would have reacted the same way. Its instinctual to protect your young.

I fully understand my daughter is 4. Just wondering I knew he was of considerable age as he was buckled. Kids are tuff.

Im not trying to get rich off this incident but you can bet I want my medical bills paid and my truck fixed. I want to be made whole again.

MY insurance company told me to file a DIV claim against the other company also for diminshed value in my truck. Since my truck is an 09 and only 5 months sold we all know the CARFAX report will screw me if i ever go to sell it or trade it in.

Has anyone else heard of a DIV claim? Sounds like some extra MOD money to me.

This incident is just another day in my life. I seem to have bad luck all the time to the point I wake up and punch myself in the head to get it over with for the day. Im like that character Schleprock (sp) from the flintstones. Its an everyday event to see what will happen next.

I can let it defeat me or see the silver lining which is what I try to do. Once they get the ass of my truck back on, its MOD time.

Thanks to all for the great supporting comments.

^^^ I was going to say make sure you get money for the loss in value, in addition to medical bills and truck repairs. I have no experience with doing so, so I can't be helpful there. Just make sure you figure it out and get the money.

It wasn't your fault, of course, but I know that I always pass on cars that have evidence of an accident on the Carfax. People will do the same to you unless you drop the price of the truck to compensate, so you are owed money to make up for that.

Glad to hear you and your son are OK. I would have given that little bi*** an ear-full. I HATE when people don't pay attention while driving.

Believe me, I would have to. Except for the fact I couldnt moved my head because of my neck pain. I couldnt get out of the truck. EMT had me in a neck brace and a back brace. They wanted to cut my seat out just to lift me out of the truck. Im like HELL NO, just grab my arms and feet and pull, but dont cut my seat out. They lifted me out on a back board and straight into the ambulance, I never even got to see my truck til 2 days later when someone went and got it for me.

Im happy no one was seriously hurt, but unhappy my truck was been damaged. By the time I sell this truck CARFAX will be the last thing someone will be concerned about. My other 96 Tacoma has 433xxx miles on it.
