Oh wow, what a cute puppy! What do her litter mates look like? Congrats and thanks for adopting her. She's got really great markings too. Pls post more shots when she's home!

Thanks. I only had time to take one pic, and I felt a little bad because the staff at the shelter was really busy and asked me to take the "adopted" sign back to her kennel and when I walked back there were 2 little kids cooing over her. "Sorry!"

I think they had 5-6 litter mates in the pound, some a little more border collie-ish in their features and coloring, and a couple with markings similar to this one. This one helped me decide by looking interested and curious when I walked past, but she waited until I called to her to come forward. She came to me confidently though, and wasn't afraid to sniff and mouth my hand a little bit. The exact temperament I wanted, and she's so cute!

I pretty much give up on purebreds. I'm not showing them anyway, and shelter dogs have been the best dogs I've owned. Besides, I could have paid $500-1000 for a purebred but I got a perfectly good dog for $90 and she's already spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

If you are in OKC, you should bring her out to the dogparks once she's healed from the spay.

Tulsa, I'll take her to the dog parks here. :) Actually there's a city park (not a dog park, just a regular one) just over the back fence at my apartment complex. And the apartment manager loves dogs, she keeps dog treats in her office. It's nice to have a dog-friendly living situation.

The lack of dog friendly living situations is probably the biggest reason dogs end up in foster/shelter situations.

What kills me is we care more about red-bellied, pink 3 legged French frogs than we do about a lot of other things-including a place to let a dog run and just be a dog.

Did you get your dog at the SPCA there at 36N and Mohawk Blvd? (I think that is where it's at. My son teaches school in Jenks!

    !!!!!!!!!!

We have several dog parks, city-owned and tax-supported.

Cool for your son! No, I got her at the city pound (Animal Welfare Office, as they prefer). They aren't a no-kill shelter, but they do the best they can to find homes for them.

Last time I went to the humane society to adopt a dog I learned that in that particular town the humane society shares a building with the city pound. The humane society there is a no-kill shelter. It maintains that only because when they get completely overrun or they have an unadoptable dog (which my last dog was, supposedly. Those bastards told people her tail was mal-formed, when it was really just short) they adopt out dogs to the city pound, which holds them a few days then kills them. It definitely made me change my view of no-kill shelters: it's all just in the paperwork.

they are both very smart but very hard headed. they are breed to be be hard headed. you dont want them to give up on the hunt so it's a trate you just deal with. but they are both very loving and loyal dogs! they require a firm but far hand and plenty of space to run, tons of energy.
they have a ton of personalty to my big boy (ruger) has so many facial expressions it is funny and amazing at the same time.
