Finally did my wiper mod yesterday...once I got the cover off-piece of cake...one thing I would point out to those who never did it-the FRONT tabs need to be unsnapped FIRST...the picture on page 2 has the red arrows pointing at the rear tabs,as if that is where you should begin...
once I got that straight....all went well...

So it looks like the 02610 part number has symbols on it,

and the 02710 part number has English words on it,

Pretty cool if they work the same.

20 minute job, even including not snapping one tab on the column cover in right and having to pull the screws again. Bah-BAM!

Someone remarked that the front plastic tabs need to be done first on getting the Steering wheel plastic cowel cover off but didn't mention how. Help. Where do you press? to get the two front ones to free the two sections? Thanks, Frankie from VA

I so wish I had done this mod the first week I got my Tacoma! I can't believe I waited this long, super easy and works like a champ! I want to give a shout out to Jorge at Camelback Toyota for a great deal on the part including shipping.

I found it best to start the truck, turn the wheel one way and remove a screw, turn it the other way abd remove the other screw.

Then turn the wheel upside down, you can grip a lower section of the lower cover wait and pull straight down, mine separated very easily and its only 35 degrees out!

Also it's easier to have your truck key off your key chain our have a spare to use as I was turning the wheel often and wanted the truck off before pulling both writing plus,

Here are a few pics also showing the two plugs, and then the one large clip that holds the whole assembly in,

While you're in there, remove one wire from the ignition cylinder connector and it will disable the annoying "Key in ignition" tone when the door is open.

I don't remember which color it is... I'm going to wait until after I have the airbag recall done before messing with it.

I was so ready to do that, and may go back in and perform that,
I saw the 2-wire plug at the ignition switch assembly but was excited about getting the wiper switch in and taking pictures I totally forgot!

You can see the plug in the fifth pic, with the white/purple??? and green/blue??? wires in it,

I don't remember which one it is, and can't find the link that I thought I had saved.

Scan the "cheap free mods" thread and it should show up.

I misread... You said "white/purple" and "green/blue" and I thought you were referring to 4 wires... not white and green with tracers.

They both go to the same switch.

I installed 84652-02710 in my 2013, and it gives you 4 levels of intermittent plus "slow" and "fast".

And the "slow" and "fast" are actually usable, rather than "fast" and "throw the fucking wiper blades off the arms"

I swear you can launch a squirrel with the "fast" setting.

Only thing that is very small that would top this mod is if Toyota came out with a stalk that on the slowest NON intermittent speed would go intermittent when stopped and then as you get above 5 MPH they go to slow speed constant,

Honda did it a few years ago,

That would be really cool in a light mist.

But generally, Rain-X takes care of those situations for me.
