For those of you with Icon coilovers, how long have yours lasted before you need to rebuild? Do you need to send them in to Icon for the rebuild?

I wonder the same thing, but I know it depends on your use. I imagine you can get 50-70 thousand out of them if you are just using it on the street and occasionally go offroad. If you are offroad all the time then less.

probably just have to wait till they bleed oil and note how long they lasted. guess the oldest pair if you got them for a 2005+ would be a few years old by now.

Yep, my driver's side leaked oil in about 20 months, passenger side a month later. Both needed full seal kits plus shafts. $100 each plus $25 each to send to CA. As Joe said, about 30k miles. IVD says 2 years between rebuilds is average. I own a spare now which makes it a very easy process with no downtime, other than 20 minutes to swap one out.

Man $100 each seems steep to me.

I think it is normally about $65 each for new seals and a rebuild. I'm not sure how I tweaked the shafts.

From what im told you need a special tool to charge the shock so most people wont touch there coilovers cause of this. But damn tweaking the shafts you must have had fun with them.

this is one reason I went with the Icons.

#1 they are silver and black, matches better on my silver truck

#2 they are located 30 mins from me.

When it comes time to rebuild, I'll throw my old struts on and drive to Icon
to drop the coilovers off. :) or shit, if they can do them then I will wait

That is awesome, no need to deal with shipping these heavy things over there. I haven't installed mine yet but wanted to get an idea of what I may be dealing with down the road. I'll have to call around to see if anyone can locally, if not I'll keep the stockers handy. Do you need an alignment each time you take em off and go back to the stocks and then put em on again?

I guaruntee you didn't tweak the shafts. Usually the shafts get pittted from roadsalt, etc, and would destroy the new seals in a matter of no time. That is the reason for new shafts.

Just got mine back on wednesday last week.

IVD's exact words to me were shafts were bent so we replaced them. Nothing about pitting was mentioned.
