That's the other option. That's a lot of welding and, with me, a lot of grinding! I know you would have done it, I think someone asked you about it, just more $$ than I could spend on the sliders

I might take you up on that. I was going to try to bribe my dad to help me out. He just got a new welder so it'd be a good opportunity to get it broken in

slide hammer, i tried glue pulling at work and it wasn't strong enough. The body man said he would use this same method and not spot weld and pull on those. After im done they will be doing the welding, fill and paint. I have no patience for the paint part.

Who here has replaced leaf springs ? what am I in for ?

Found a set of TSB 4 leafs for cheap and going to replace my stock ones with 100k miles that cant hold any weight.

what hardware do i need to gather up besides u bolts ?

 

Pretty easy. I was able to handle dakars by myself without much knowledge (borrowed knowledge from these guys)

I wouldn't spend a lot of money on TSB springs, they're not much better than the stock ones.

The swap isn't terrible. Breaking the bolts free is the hardest part.

 

What are TSB leafs? Like I know what a TSB is but what's the issue?

 

They gave our second gens very weak leaf packs. So toyota issued a tsb that is a new leaf pack with another leaf

 

The leaf springs that came with the 2nd Gens are embarrassingly soft. They used to bottom out with a 400 lb motorcycle in the bed. So, Toyota in all their infinite wisdom, came up with a TSB for the issue. The TSB leaf pack is the same base shitty leaf pack with another thin, ultra-flexible leaf stuck in there also. It does better than the base leaf pack but will still let you down in a little while.

It's basically Toyota saying, yeah, we know we fucked up, here's a band aid, we're sorry.

 

What years/models did that TSB run?

 

2005-2011 for sure. I have heard talk about the tsb for 2012 but i dont know if anyone has had it done.
