I take offense to that! I've been looking for a job since October! Everyone wants "more experience". :(

well I was a one-man IT department at a client with 250+ employees. :D Mostly computer illiterate women on a dozen different accounts each with different requirements. VPN setup for managers and offsite people, smart phones with GoodLink, Avaya phone system, Exchange 2003.... A year and a half there doing damn near everything, and not enough experience for every job I've applied for.

Can I get then some help from you?...:D But no way they are crazy, dumb and reasonless for not taking you as their employee, you are guru... but sometimes that "experience" they are looking is age, this guys are looking for younger people. Im about 40 I do not feel old... but sometimes on our job field (IT's) they look for fresh ideas and not solid ones.

I hope you find a good Company that deserves your services.

Yeah, I'm not sure why I don't have a job yet. A couple places said they were growing and wanted new ideas, fresh blood, etc. Only thing I can think of was my appearance (long hair and ear rings. Now short hair, and the rings come out.), or the reason I was fired. Half tempted to sue my former employer for wrongful termination since an unemployment hearing found the charge "hearsay" and dropped it. But I still don't have a job and I wonder if the reason I was fired has tainted my reputation. If that makes sense. Some woman claimed I made a comment, it went down as sexual harassment, there were never any written warnings or anything I signed, no statement from the client it occurred at, and employees of the client and my company are yelled at for asking about me..... I don't want to deal with a lawyer, but this all seems shady to me. And now, almost 6 months later I still can't get a job. Partly due to that? I don't know.

Oh, and I'm 28, but I've been using computers since I was around 5 and could read DOS 3.1. :D Guess 20 years personal experience isn't enough, or something else is involved.

Men what a story, but something happened to me at this current job like 5 years ago (I'm 11 years at this company now), when I was accused for that same reason after saying her a two-way understanding phrase (us Mexicans use to have a lot of that kind wording or phrases), at the end she got fired after several months stilling time on the clock and dedicating more than an hour a day to her other job. For the accusation I tell all ladies at that time that from me they will not hear any other joke or dual-meaning phrases. It is difficult to get up, but once you do it... no one will be able to get you down again.

    Best wishes to you.

Thanks. Yeah, it's been a real eye opener. :( Made me re-evaluate who my "friends" were after that point (since she acted like a friend). I normally don't trust people or let my guard down around them. That just reinforced that policy, but I'm afraid I'll slip up again. People like to joke with me, and vent about things, and I don't mind letting them. Very little offends or bothers me. My boss used to tell me I need to smile more, and people would ask what was wrong if I wasn't smiling. Well, I usually only smile when I'm happy or laughing. And laughing over a joke is what caused all this so you wonder why I don't smile....

Idiots. I'm still debating the lawyer thing. Maybe I'll call someone today and see if I even have a case. :D

Mr. PT, the more your writes the more looks as the way I am... keep going like that smile out as long no one bother for it and smile inside you for everything else... CONFIDENCE take a long time to be built and one second to destroy it, be honest to everyone, expecting nothing back from them... then everyone will be searching for someone in who trust... you.
