I was looking into a Toytec lift ultimate lift and i think they are charging way to much for it cause if you buy all the parts separate you pay like 200 to 300 less especially if you get the 5100's form downsouth motorsports then get the AAL and the coil over kit for the 5100"s..... Toytec can do the ultimate kit for 1150 and you can everything separate for around 850.... I just think for 300 less i can put it together myself what do you all think????

You have to remember that the kit from Toytec come assembled already. They have some extra parts that are put there so you don't have to remove parts from your stock parts.

Not sure about the fronts, but toytec says the rears are "extended length" 5100's. It also includes a front diff drop, sway bar drop, axle shims, and longer ubolts.

You're right though, $300 is alot for just that. Especially if they're the same 5100's you can buy elsewhere.

 

You get new top plates and rubber isolators rather than reusing your old ones. Price these parts and see how much you save then. This makes the new struts a direct bolt on rather than having to have them put together somewhere.

 

Thats how I did my kit, just got it put together piece by piece. Not even sure if I saved on money though.

 

Be sure to price out the labor as well to put all the parts together. Trust me, it will be an even wash if not coming out ahead by going with the Ultimate kit. I did. Plus get a discount code from one of the guys here, or ask Derrick about Tacomaworld discount. If I remember correctly I think I got 15% off.

 

You could piece together the kit and lose the upper top plates but you will still have to buy the adjustable collars to make the 5100 an adjustable coil over. I was one of the first to do this when Doug first decided to make a coil over kit for the 5100. The adjustable collars take a lot of machine time and are precision made thus they are not cheap. In addition, the 5100s sold through ToyTec have a lifetime warranty. If you really want to build your own "Ultimate kit" it would break down as follows:

4 5100s from DSM = $309
Adjustable collars and Eibach Springs = $430
AAL = $80
Diff Drop = $30
Sway bar relocation kit = $30
Axle Shims = $29
Shock Extenders = $15
U-Bolts = $40
Machined top plate assembly = $129
Total = $1,092
+ Shipping and Assembly

The price would be $963 without the machined top plate. + Shipping

Or buy the ultimate kit with Neub's discount = $1,068 +Shipping

For some it is really nice to have the complete front coil over assembled and preset. The convenience and the fact that everything is warrantied is something that many are willing to pay a little more for. The "ultimate" decision is really up to you, however I think ToyTec did their homework and priced this kit to be very competitive in relation to their strategic group competitor's products.

Just my $0.02 and humble opinion.

 

Been lurking in the shadows, reading all the other posts for a couple weeks now. Going to grab ToyTec's ultimate kit for my 05 DCSB sometime next week. I'll probably end up ordering the TC Control Arms as well... But I haven't decided on that yet. I could do the install myself, but Fat-Bobs in Ogden, UT is going to hook me up with something like $250 for the install. If anybody else is running a similar set-up and has some feedback I'd love to hear/see it.

Could not agree with you more. That'swhy I went with the Ultimate kit. Dont forget that any shop you take your parts will be charging hourly labor to put the parts together as well. With the Ultimate kit, it is pretty much plug and play. I love mine.
