    Absorbed glass mat
AGM batteries differ from flooded lead acid batteries in that the electrolyte is held in the glass mats, as opposed to freely flooding the plates. Very thin glass fibers are woven into a mat to increase surface area enough to hold sufficient electrolyte on the cells for their lifetime. The fibers that compose the fine glass mat do not absorb nor are affected by the acidic electrolyte. These mats are wrung out 2–5% after being soaked in acids, prior to manufacture completion and sealing.
The plates in an AGM battery may be any shape. Some are flat, others are bent or rolled. AGM batteries, both deep cycle and starting, are built in a rectangular case to BCI battery code specifications.

The platinum batteries from sears are basically a rebranded Odessey 1400 and. Good choice.

Die Hard batteries are a product of Johnson Controls....more specifically "Globe-Union". Johnson Controls is the parent company. Johnson Controls also produces Maxx Start, Champion, Duralast, OPTIMA and about 15 other common brands.

    Do a little more homework.
Die Hard Platinums are manufactured by EnerSys. The Platinum IS a re-branded Odyssey.

IMO, DH Platinum/Odyssey are the best AGM battery on the market today. I bought the biggest fucking one they have, the 31m, in my Tundra that's on it's 3rd year. I got it tested before winter started and it tested at 1207 CCA. It's rated at 1150 CCA brand new. I kick myself in the ass every day for putting in the Optima in my Taco.

How long have you had the Optima? Red top, Yellow top?
At almost $200 for the Platinum or an Optima I've learned my lesson the hard way and think that they may not be all that. Maybe in the more extreme climates of the upper N.E., or Canada and AK they are worth it.

I've got a red-top 34R. I live in Tahoe and its damn cold right now and the red top is less than a year old and strains hard in the morning. Piece of shit.

Im impressed with my red top..while wiring my lights i was constantly testing them out. To those of you unaware of my lighting thats up to 53 amps constant draw..

the red top was at 10v on my volt gauge on the stereo capacitor. Still cranked the motor right over.

However it did indeed die and needed jumped when i parked it out side.

i just bought a yellow top too  almost bout the platinum..but just wasn't sure i could make it fit for my second battery..

Yea i wish i had gotten two yellows now knowing what i know about batteries. Due to them being deep cycle they will preform great in the cold and for high intense situations and can always recover well. Red tops don't recover that great from a deep draining.

of course hopefully the new alternator will help too.
