I know! haha. Although with tires that wide I doubt I would have much flex either. If I were to run 4 psi on my KM2's I would be riding on the rim haha.
Here in Poky we only have about 3-4" in town. The mountains get a lot more though.

Just my opinion about running geared case's in these 2nd gen Tacoma's be they lefty's or the regular geared case. These trucks have way more HP and are heavier than the trucks the geared case's came from. Running the crawler which is the reduction portion of the geared case and putting it in front of the Tacoma case or even better the FJ Cruiser case is a better platform for these big trucks. I've been running my bruiser like this for years and haven't had any issues with the crawler or the FJ case. Plus I don't get the gear whine from dual geared case's either.
I just think it's a much stronger setup and have had someone high up in the Marlin corp agree with me as well. The lefty is a great product. But it has it's limitations. I'd just run the crawler with the big chain case and run around with that combination. Been wonderful for me. Even with the 4.7's in the crawler.
It's the only way to go.;)

Yeah, I don't think I would go that far. I don't even think I will replace the Tacoma T-case, unless it fails on me. I know the twin sticks are more reliable but I don't see much use for them when you have a crawlbox, since the crawlbox can do 2Lo, hell I have a switch on my dash I can flip if I want 2Lo. I don't think I will ever be in a situation that if my 4wd were to go out that it would become a life or death situation and if 4wd were to go out then I would have an excuse to go to a FJ case.

Just some fun speculation. Could have a 865:1 crawl ratio just to show off, then a useable 379:1 for crawling and a 39:1 Low range ratio for high speed offroading.

Just adding the 4.7 crawlbox I would have a 207:1 crawl ratio and a 44:1 Low range ratio.

The 4.7 crawler and FJ case have been awesome no gear whine and absolutely the best mod for the truck so far. I'm just jumping in from Wyatts post but quessing that you asked some of the same questions I had on my set-up geared stock case, lefty, crawler w/stock case etc. Wyatt gave me good advice this set-up has been bullet proof.

You can do the crawler and stock case, I even have an extra stock case I'll give you. I think your math is off but I hate math....

I have an auto so our tranny gears are all different. haha My first gear is 3.52 and yours is 3.95 I think. My 5th gear is 0.716 and yours is 0.85

Need a tranny like my dad's '73 GMC. Had a granny low 1st gear with a 6.56:1 ratio:eek: but with a 6th gear like the Tundra's 6 spd auto, 0.588. Too bad it's not really possible to swap out my auto tranny gears. haha

I even have access to spare parts if I damage my OEM case one day. Thanks for the offer man. Maybe I will need the actuator out of it one day if you still have it when the day comes:D

Marlin Crawlbox if $2K and goes between the tranny and tcase so it will still be usable when upgrading to 1 tons. haha. Sure not as fancy as an atlas, but much cheaper. I don't think I need all the fancy options of an atlas as is. haha

yeah an Atlas isnt that much more by the time you get done fucking around upgrading your case to this and that, and it's 1TON STRONG!!!!! besides when im on 44"s i don't wanna worry about a weak link or gearing options.
and my last argument i can do front digs with it sucka.

I'd love to do some D60's with the portal axle kits, but funds aren't there. I would like to still be relatively DD'able, so SAS is going to be an expensive one, especially since I can't do it myself... Wish I had the money to just send it to Wyatt and say "SAS it:D" haha

Besides would still want the crawlbox with the SAS:D

Unless the site is out of date, it says they currently aren't making the Atlas 4's right now because they are redesigning them.

Can an Atlas compound its gears? If not I would want the 4spd with the 10.3:1 ratio. Adding a 4.7 crawlbox to my 2.567 case gives me a 12.07:1 tcase ratio, although the extra 1.7 on the ratio wouldn't make a huge difference.

Wouldn't it make sense to try to do both at the same time in your case so you only have to resize your drive shafts once?

I have to question whether this would be true for Ben's KM2s. Were you asking them to sipe MTs or were they ATs or tires with a hiway pattern like all-seasons?

It is very, very common to sipe MTs. I have never had any trouble getting my tire shop to sipe my MTs. And they have never been new when I've added siping.

Why wait, get them siped now. will make a difference. I went ahead and got my 33s siped a couple of weeks ago. I like the traction much better now. Nothing is great on black ice but this has improved traction in most winter driving conditions.

I was a bit surprised by how much difference it made on mine in those conditions. It is definitely better now than it was new.

There is no doubt in my mind that wider tires hurt traction in icy/black ice situations. Your only saving grace is the weight you carry.
