For me, the chiropractor WORKS! Last year I found out I have Spondylolisthesis in my L5 Grade 2 slip with a pars fx. Back surgeon recommended a fusion and I couldn't believe it, I was only 27yrs old! Instead went to the chiro, he gave me an alignment and muscle stem therapy. Made a huge difference on how I felt. I now go when I need to. Maybe once a month if that. I'll be hurting when I make it to my 50s unfortunately.

ironically found a tube of tiger balm. have never used this type of stuff before. had the GF massaged it in. seems to have relieve the heavier pain, but there's still that little remaining feel of the knot.

At first I thought it was a rumor, but it was confirmed today by a union VP, that in the near future my agency will be going from system status 12 hour trucks, to a 24 hour stationed system. We are a county agency and will be stationed at the county FD stations.

Will also make a total transition to double medic trucks, slowing phasing out all the EMT's.

The county will also be making all the county fire stations BLS only, because we will be double medic trucks...

    Gonna be fucking sweet...haha

It sounds like they're trying to do what San Francisco did... SF Dept. of Public health got combined with SFFD, they started putting ambulances in fire stations.

From what I've heard (this was kinda before my time), the transition didn't go well. Fire station dynamics and ambulance medic/Emt dynamics don't always mesh. You take a 20 year medic who's always been the lead medic on scene and put him in a fire station with a 20 year captain... There's going to be a power struggle and some clashing...

I know of a medic who once told a captain to go fuck himself... I can't imagine telling either of them that they now have to live with that person for 3 days a week...

That's obviously a pretty rare circumstance, but, I'm interested to see how it works out for your county.

Well, the county EMS agency will still be separate from the FD. We won't be a part of the FD and will still have our own command structure. We will just be bunking at the stations. Plus these are crews we run with everyday anyways.

    Hey guys,
2 medics from the Agency in the province passed in the past few days, both non job related. The academy gave us black ribbons to wear on uniform, how long do I wear it for?

Agencies all have their own policies. I know in my area, it's worn until after the services.

Do any of you use online CE courses for re-certification? Mine is through the Coast Guard so no state requirements just the NREMT but I can't seem to find the didactic instruction and I'm overseas so it's hard to come by locally.

What's up all. I've been around this forum for a while and never realized there was an ems section. I work for AMR in Vegas.

How is ems in your city run? All private medics? 1 medic 1 emt ambulances? Semi fire based? I have been wondering that for awhile.

It's a dual response system with fd and private. We run either medic/ intermediate or double medic if ur lucky. Fire also runs paramedics on all their equipment.

Cold to stop the inflammation and pain. Never put warm/hot on an acute injury.

    The book answer:

    Immediate pacing.

Real answer: treat underlying causes. H's and T's.

    Mine was this.
    Vitals
    O2
    EKG
    IV
    Bolus fluids
    transport

If BP/HR did not respond to the bolus I would go to pacing if they were not mentating correctly.

Told them how to pace. If the pacing was not affective, call online medical explain situation and ask what they wanted me to do
