So the other week my wife got in a fender bender in my truck. The front bumper, grill, and right headlight have to be replaced, along with repairing a few other things. The truck is an 08 and being red is obviously going to have some sun fading. The bumper was already turning pink so I'm pretty glad to have that repainted. My question is, do body shops try to match the paint of the vehicle as it is, or will they just slap on a brand new coat of radiant red? I just don't want my truck to be two-toned, with a faded body and a bright red bumper. Anybody with experience with this? Thanks.

A good paint guy will blend the paint. It will never be "perfect" again but they can get close!

And I would go ahead and replace the other headlight. That will stick out more than you think

This is something I'm worried about as well. Don't know if I can do much about it though because I'm at the mercy of the insurance company. Doubt they will replace the left headlight if it isn't broken.

You could try and use a restore kit on it or buy one out of pocket. Good luck I hope you get your truck back to normal.

Thanks man. Hopefully it'll be up and running soon. Caveat is my insurance company is paying for the rental and Enterprise gave me a Cadillac ATS. Pretty sweet little car actually, but I'd still rather have my truck.

If insurance is paying for it, the truck has to be in the same or better condition than before the accident. They will generally do their best to color match and will probably re-paint one of the doors to ensure that.

I would recommend you swap out the driver's headlight when possible. It's weird how they can fade without being noticeable to the naked eye, but at night it is obvious.
