The freaking clutch bushing keeps going out making the pedal sqeak. Twice in 20k miles. Seems to only last about 10k miles per bushing...new technology my ass.
Other than that...it's a truck, i'm not going to expect it to drive like a Lexus

I had a similar noise...it turned out to be the cold air intake where its fastened to the inner fender. Dealer replaced....no further noise

I have had a lot of little problems.
    (1) Month after getting the truck the battery leaked acid all over the driver side of the engine compartment and took it in and out 3 times to get it painted and repainted bit still left over acid, rust, paint flaking off. After 3rd time they refused to continue to work on it so I had to get a lemon lawyer and they agreed to pay off some of the trucks value if I decided to sell it. But I decided to stick with the truck since no major problems with drive train.

    (2) Some times I notice the lunge forward from a dead stop that other people talk about but it's not a big deal and I don't mind it. I also notice some times when I turn on the A/C at a low speed like 5 mph it will make a loud grinding noise and the truck will slow down a little and then lunge forward. I took it in and they said it looked okay. I now only turn in on at higher speeds and it dose not make the noise as much or as bad.

    (3) I also used to use an ipod player insert for the cigarette lighter and when I took it out to hide it, it took out the whole cigarette lighter and I can't seem to figure out how to properly insert it back in. I don't use it so I have it in about half way and when I sell it in the future I will probably try to fix it but I don't mind it.

    (4) I notice that if you look at the truck from the back the bed looks off even as if it has a shim missing from one side underneath but it's not that noticeable. Could be leaf spring or something but I really don't mind it.

    (5) Also a month after the damn warranty expired the passenger side window stopped working. I checked the fusees but they seem okay. I'm honestly afraid to take apart the inside part of the door and I'm waiting for Haynes to possibly come out with a manual for are trucks.

    (6) I also usually spray it off with water every week and try to wash it every 2 or 3 months now because I learned the hard way that if I keep bird crap on it for a long time it will eat into your clear coat and paint. I now have a few scabs of clear coat on my hood. I used to have a 99 firebird and I kept birdcrap on it for months and it did nothing at all to the clearcoat so I'm not sure what to say about that. I could probably wet sand it and recoat it but I'm not going to mess with it.

Considering that it only has about 28,000 miles on it since brand new since getting it in 2005 it should not have so many problems. I don't mind the little things but the battery acid and the window kind of really pissed me off. I also understand that every car will have some little flaws here and there of some kind but I think overall the truck drives great, great power, good mpg's, does good on the trails going fast or slow. Also for the money we spent on these trucks I think they should have an alarm, garage door opener things like that standard. I want to get a 4 door 4x4 in about 4 years or so and I might just end up getting another tacoma. I would conseder getting the new GM's or dodge but they pissed me off with whole bail out stuff and I now call them Obama's Government Motors. But anyways I already typed to much and let me hear about what you guys think about some of those problems.

    Issuses:
Sometimes only, usually if it's cold out (doesn't get cold often, maybe a few times a year) minor vibe when cold and cruising at 55. Speed up or slow down and it stops. Feels like a vibe that I've seen occur with lean fueling conditions on other vehicles.

Did have a spongy suspension prior to getting the spring TSB done recently.

    :)

    6) At low speeds, especially in reverse, when lightly applying the brakes, the rear brakes whine. Dealer inspected it and found nothing wrong. Minor but annoying even so.

Yeah from what I've seen and heard, Toyota's paint quality isn't as good as GM's. The clear coat (hopefully not the paint) cracked on my hood only after one month. Also, is the paint on the bottom 6" of the doors supposed to have that "orange peel" texture to it? Or is Toyota gonna owe me a new paint job?

That thicker part of paint is suppose to protect the paint from chipping or denting from road debris, rocks, etc or at least this is what I was told. I asked the salesman before I got the truck and he said this is what it was for and said it was normal. I also saw on this and other forums that other Japanese companies have done this before. I think it's a great idea since a lot of us go off-roading and It's not that noticeable from a distance. I think this should also be an add-on option.

I also saw at Autozone this weekend a company that makes a clear coat repair kit.

I saw it was exactly the same on both sides of my truck, so I was thinking it was intentional.

    6) Not an issue/defect but strange. I have read at length about the clunk/lurch/whatever and after reading 334923476 post my eyes glaze over. But it's like this. Anytime the gas tank is over 1/2 full when I stop, especially stop quickly (traffic is a mess here) there is a soft clunk as if someone bumped me very gently. It's more of a curiosity as I can't always make it happen and have gotten used to it and it seems harmless.

I love this truck. :) First truck I have had since a F150 in the 90's. Fourth Toyota vehicle I have owned... Gotta love it, strange clunk or not.

    6) Some times my headlight don't turn off when i open my door, Dome light wont turn on (yes the switch is on door), when i turn off my engine and remove the key i can open my door and still be able to roll down my windows (all power should be cut off after driver side door is open). Im not sure if the electrical problems are the result from the Fog light mod.

Dunno where this is on the Taco, but usually there is a small button in the door jam somewhere that tells the truck the door is open. Maybe yours is stuck?

    6) Radio will shut off at random times and not turn back on, sometimes it will come back if I shut the truck off and restart, sometimes it won't... Sometime the Steering Wheel controls are the only thing that will work... sometimes not...

Very random, and apparently is a known issue and the dealers will replace the radio for free, I just haven't gotten around to it yet...

    DunFLOP tires

    1. Radio went out (Common problem. You would think they would be able to fix it by now)

    2. As for the clunking.... If you turn off the truck, stand at the driver side back bumper (Not on it, but near it), grab the back of the truck and push forwards and backwards. Notice the clunking plastic gas tank? The gas sloshes back and forth making a clunk when it hits the front and back of the tank. Could this be it? I hear my gas tank clunk from time to time.

3.Spongy Suspension. Planning on getting the TSB, but afraid that it will make the back stiff and suffer in Off-Road articulation.

    4. Clutch is stiff it seems. Its possible to get a cramp at a red light while holding down the clutch. (Anyone else have this issue?)

    5. Famous Yellow sticker on my door. Mine is hand written stating 4.00 LBS

    6. Radiator overflow tube leaking the pink. (Have not told the dealer yet)

    7. Strange issue where when I am changing into gears 1,2,3 and 4 the RPMs dive bomb as soon as let off the gas (They drop down to idle rpm's), but when changing into 5th gear from fourth they gain about 500 rpm's. making the truck lunge forward when let the clutch out. (Anyone else with that issue? Happens every time)
