There's no reason having 2 fuses would cause a problem, but I'd just cut out the in-line fuse and only use the add-a-circuit fuse. Having 2 fuses on one accessory just makes things messy for trouble shooting down the road should you ever need to.

With the add-a-circuit though, make sure you install it in the correct orientation. A lot of people don't realize that installing an add-a-circuit backwards forces the original fuse to pick up the load of the accessory as well as whatever it was originally intended to power.

    I know, my bad! :anonymous:

I'll take a picture in 45 minutes when I get out of class. I believe the wire should come out the bottom, pointing towards the firewall.

I suppose it doesn't really matter for me since I have them in unused slots (my siriusxm is in the power window slot, but I have manual windows) I was going to put the CB into a similar unused slot

But it would be good for future reference

You need to determine which side the power is coming into the circuit on. In the picture above, power should come in on the left tab. When installed correctly, power comes in on the left tab, then splits, part going through the bottom fuse and out to power whatever the circuit was intended to power, then part goes through the top fuse and out the wire to your new accessory. If you install it backwards, power would come in on the right tab, go across the bottom fuse, then split, part going down to the original circuit and the other part going across the top fuse and out to your new accessory. It's not necessarily bad, it just means that power for both circuits go through the bottom fuse and, if that one blows, you lose both circuits. Installed correctly, if the bottom fuse blows, you only lose the original circuit.

Like I told the guy, if it happened but they stood by the product I would definitely buy another GM. That they feel I should be happy with the free head (which even that I had to fight them to honor what they put in writing) tells me a lot about why they are going downhill.

mines in the ash tray. I just used the leads going to the ashtray light, so my lights have to be on for the CB to have power.

I mean a 100w amp for the CB signal. Not for the PA. The legal limit for CB output is 4w lol.

I want a PA speaker for my CB though. Too bad the 75wxst doesn't have that capability. Oh well

So what if you want your CB to be on while you're on a top secret spy mission?

I have one that I know is backwards but it only powers a tiny LED in a switch and triggers a relay so you're talking milliamps. It was the only orientation I could make it fit in the under-hood fuse panel.

Always had good luck with their cars. First car was a 92 cavalier coupe, drove it to 250k miles, head gasket went, fixed it and sold it for a few grand. Then bought an 02 sunfire coupe off my friend with 80k miles on it for $2500 since he hated driving stick. Drove that to 200k miles, traded it in on my 09 Cobalt SS coupe. Only put just under 29k on the Cobalt in 3.5 years since i really only used it for autocross and track days. No problems with any of them besides routine maintenance.

Mrs has an 05 Grand Prix with 150k on the clock. No major problems with that either, just maintenance. I just replaced the original battery and serpentine belt last weekend. Otherwise everything else besides wear items are original.

I would buy a gm car (though not the cruze or sonic, those are rebadged Daewoo pieces of garbage) again in a heartbeat. Not their midsize truck though. If someone gave one to me i'd sell it or just give it away for free.
