I just set this up, will test soon. Not sure if this works for the 5-speed manual?

This app is great. I've got the plx kiwi Bluetooth obd adaptor. It was expensive, around $120 from Amazon but well worth it.

Doesn't give me any bugs, and has a really fast refresh rate. I use it to data log my car, monitor IAT's, KR, AFR, etc. It's also fast enough to data log auto cross runs with the trackmaster app. The only real limitation is the accuracy of the my phones GPS receiver (motorola Atrix HD).

Well worth the cost imo for something that can see any PIDs the ecu does, clears codes, etc. And for $5 or whatever it costs now even if you get the expensive adaptor like the kiwi it's worth it.

    OK, just tested these-

For TFT1: I am getting some bizarre results - very volatile and sometimes going from very high numbers say 390 to very low, even negative numbers like -40 in an instant. I don't think this is a useful PID as configured at least for the 5 speed manual.

For TFT 2: Getting what appears to be much more reasonable numbers. When first starting the figure was like 68 which is possible (although it is colder here than that, maybe there was some residual heat from 4 hours before. The number climed to 138 and was very stable in a short test drive. It eventually went to 138.1 then 138.2.

Anyone have any input on these 2 PIDS?

Is 138 a reasonable number for TFT?

This is how it works for me as well. TFT1 is useless, TFT2 gives me data.. I'm pretty sure its working good, as when I towed it climbed up a lot. Typically I sit around 140 when just driving around.

OK, thanks for the input.

I wonder if TFT 1 is the correct sensor but wrong math involved?

Like what does the F stand for and why is it H in the second PID? Seems like the formula should be the same perhaps and the F is a typo?

Or should I be using the 2182 pid as I have a 2013 truck, instead of the 21D9?

The ECU and PID's should be the same from my 2011 and your 2013. I'm really not sure, you can try and and see if it works.

I know TFT1 never has worked right for me. I don't even have it installed anymore.

Yeah, well I tried all the variations on this thread and not sure any work for a 5-sp manual, or if they have temp sensors in the manual at all.

The only one that seems remotely likely is TFT2 but the number is so stable on that at 138.0 138.1 or 138.2 max that it is hard to believe it could be correct. The other PIDS just jump around too much to be possibly correct.

That said the program is super cool and plenty of other numbers are working.

I want to try the trip set-ups, data logging and mapping stuff when I get a chance.

It will also be interesting to see if the MPG calculations are accurate.

Try towing something. My trans temp goes up a lot when I tow, but otherwise stays pretty much the same.

As for MPG's, you have to tweak it a bit but between fulley, basic math, and a scan gauge my Torque app is about the same values.

Yeah, I see now that there is a way to adjust the MPG figure.

    THanks!

Just scored one of these cheapie bluetooth OBDII devices thanks to the suggestion of another forum member. I can confirm that it connects with my 2001 Tacoma TRD. I was able to read the last error code, which is awesome. Hopefully I won't have to read error codes for some time now, but it looks like there are lots of other things I can do with torque in the meantime.

Just curious what people are using their scanners for other than reading error codes and checking component temps? The MPG calc sounds interesting, but I'm unlikely to always run the app every time I go for drive.

Very cool stuff, I feel so empowered to be able to read my own engine codes! :)

I have the Android version for my google phone but I really wish this was made for the iPad. This would be awesome with the screen size on my iPad mini.

I saw someone actually mounted an ipad in their dash to control their radio and such - made it look really nice with modding the bezel, had it running the app on half the screen - looked cool I'll have to find some pics

I'm wondering since this uses an app to blue tooth to a phone or tablet, can the same go for one of the new app radios?
