    Truck is looking good.

You really should have welded some scab plates to the frame to weld your sliders to. But i'm with you on the flames. Super lame. I'm glad that TG wasn't doing those when I got mine.

Thanks man. Yea we debated welding the bracket back on after we cut them down some. The scabs are more for protecting the frame than strengthening the weld right? I just figured if they do bust off (god forbid) they will break at the weld and not do too much damage to the frame:notsure: Not an expert at all on this. We tucked the sliders in enought that you can't see the flamers as well.
Would you get an additional flat piece of steel to weld to the frame then just weld the circles to that after we cut them? Figured I'd ask so we can do the other side right. Thanks.

Yeah the plates protect the frame but it also helps with the impact loads that get transferred to the frame when you hit the sliders. Not a guarantee that it will happen but I've seen sliders that will collapse/crack the frame around the attachment points because scab plates were'nt used.

If they break at the weld, that means that the welds themselves suck and were not good quality. Hate to say it but your best solution would be to use a sawzall and cut the sliders off as close as you can to the frame and grind it all down smooth and weld them back on after you get scab plates on the frame. You'll lose a little length in the legs but you'll make it back up by adding the plates.

    Thanks dude

Well shit. I'm not sure if I will go throught that much work for this. The thing is still my DD so I dont wheel it that hard core at this point. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. We all learn from mistakes at some point. Makes sense though. Spread the surface area of impulse out with additional plates, rather than driving a nail through the frame without. I'll probably role the dice for now on that side and do the other with the plates.

Yeah if you're not taking a lot of hard hits on them you'll probably be ok. Just something to keep an eye on. If you start using it harder it's worth the extra work to get it right.

I'm happy with them. I like that they look different but they aren't the silly bright blue rice look without going through the work of re wiring HIDs. I also bought the PIAA extreme whites for the 4 runner. Here is a before and after for the extreme white...

Got the driver's side sliders on.

Also got this bad boy painted. Expensive flat black but should hold up a lot better and look bad ass.

    Finally got some extra time...

    Defaced it
    [IMG]

Took a few hours to get this on
    [IMG]

Ended up unbolting several items and trimming the inner fender lining.

Didn't want my blinkers hanging out on the bumper so did the relocation mod. It sucked but really happy with how it turned out.

Awesome truck man. I am not a big fan of drop bracket lifts on 1st gens, but your truck looks sick. The AP bumper looks great too

I think its because your wheels and tires are proportionate to the truck. It seems like most people w/ big DB lifts run 20'' rims.

Thanks man. Yea I put the drop bracket on before I knew shit about lifts. Having said that, I also think it looks decent. I do like that its a litttle different and I did make up some ground clearance with the c/o. To tell you the truth I plan on hopefully going SAS someday and getting a more practical DD. Either way much thanks.
