Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Every time I switch to 4H I'm moving. I was out mudding this past weekend and was flipping back and forth from 2H and 4H constantly without stopping.

4L requires stop, neutral, push/turn, shift gear.

Sometimes the 4WD light keeps blinking while coming/going from 4H and won't stop until you give it a little gas.

Wow! An incredible amount of misinformation here. Assuming you're asking about shifting between two-wheel drive (H2) and four-wheel drive (H4), my owners manual (pg. 188) says shifting from H2 to H4 can be done at any speed under 62mph. You don't need to stop, shift into neutral, or even reduce pressure on the gas pedal. The reverse (H4 to H2) can be done at any speed. If the vehicle fails to shift (indicator blinks), gently accelerate or decelerate while operating the switch again.

This may be slightly different with other model years. When in doubt, read the owners manual.

when i shift into 4HI when stopped it blinks a some till i start moving, but when i’m moving a little bit(even at 40mph) it dose not even blink once. i think it goes in and out when moving easier than when stopped. I know you don’t have to stop or anything. i see people are almost shocked that we are doing it moving.

Yes, but I think he meant LO LOC, LO, N, HI, HI LOC since he didn't mention lockouts. :D

Sometimes I still miss my old K5 Blazers with a K20+ chassis underneath and my K20 GMC truck. NP-203 full-time 4WD. They drove off the front wheels most of the time but just pull the lever back into HI LOC no matter what you were doing if things got slippery. ETA: True shift on the fly from 1975.

The only thing I don't miss is the 6 to 7 MPG, and they all rode like a dump truck with no weight in them...

i have seen them and worked them. but the newer 4x4s are made to do it when moving, unlike the old ones.

Just my point if you can make those old clunkers shift, one that was designed to do so should present no problem. Some one mentioned hubs, in snow country we usually leave them locked in all winter.

    yeah.

i kinda like manual hubs. i know some people that use to have trucks with them. as long as you take good care of them.(keep them lubed and everything) they work just fin all the time. but i know people (all family) that did not take care of them very well or at all and had them lock up and stop working.

You can read and do whatever you want, but in my experiences this is not true unless you like hearing evil noises from the front drive train.

If I do shift while moving it is never with any throttle or force on the tires. Next time your on a steep hill in 4x4 take it out while going down and see what happens.
