I'd say armor it all, wheel the piss out of it, get to the point that IFS isn't doing it for you, then see about SAS.

You'll be able to re-use pretty much everything but the skid plates, which you can sell for funds for the SAS.

    Just my 0.02.

    That's a good point.

Plus, SAS is at the bottom of my list because the amount of work required to install it.

What the heck are you worried about? You would just drive the truck down here with the SAS kit in the back and say "Here Bill, put this on for me!"

Actually a full install like that is probably not as much as you would think. What would you think it would cost for an SAS conversion for labor?

Yeah, I mean, the more I get into it, the more I kinda realize that wheeling a daily driver capable (staying sane, not driving a rock buggy on the streets just b/c it's "legal") platform, they'll do pretty much anything short of rock bouncing / hardcore crawling.

If you want more, you COULD mod it to do that, but you're going to break things. Expensive things. And break them often. If the hardcore crawling and rock bouncing is what you want to do, SAS'ing a tacoma is going to be the wrong direction to head, and an expensive way to get there.

However, I'd wait until you say to yourself, "gah, this IFS / 33's really isn't getting it done for me," and then evaluate if it makes more sense to SAS it and stick with it, or sell it and get something that's more suited for what you want to do. I mean if you sas it and go to like 37-44, you'll need gears, and more power, and then the frame isn't really suited to handle the torque, and it all kinda cascades from there.

Now, if you just want to have a SAS taco to have a SAS taco,. I'm a firm believer in, "because I can," as a perfectly good reason to do anything.

Kinda a ramble, but I'm on beer number (lostcount) and figured I'd ramble.
