It does depend on the weather. I have one range that is in a flood plane so it's usually wet, or I can drive to a neighbors ranch and fire them there. We wet down the tank damn before we shoot. The tracers that have been available lately are from the 70's so most of them won't light anyway. They'll just be a good plinking round.

Alright guys so I was looking into building my own simple rifle since before all this gun shit escalated, now that everything is either jacked up in price or completely out of stock what would you guys reccomend? I found setups online that would let me build one for pretty cheap but now everything is out of stock everywhere. Is there anywhere you guys know of that has anything still? My dad is crazy about buying guns and has a friend that he gets stuff from. I was gonna check with him but I figured I would try here first.

 

Don't pay for something g that's hacked up on price. Plenty of places still have normal prices

 

Watch for decent deals on parts. They pop up every now and then.

There are several sites that have people posting deals, just keep your eyes open.

 

At this point you can't be really picky with rifles because they are scarce
with the amount of people buying them.. But doesn't mean you have to pay top dollar
for one, get one at a reasonable price.

 

Wait about 6 months and buy a good rifle for cheap. My guess is there will be deals to be had in about 6-9 months.

 

I know, but down here in FL where its too dry, tracers can't be shot and ammo is scarce... I'll take it! Plus, I just got my rock river and havent had a chance to shoot it yet. What was the price per round before all this ish went down?

Before 08 or recently?

Recently was about .28-35 cents a round for brass case.

Lake city m855 was $149.99 for 420. And I thought that was a little steep...

 

When we stocked up in September we bought 10,000 rounds for .32 cents a round

 

For you guys shooting tracer, beware of keyholing your gas ports. We see it pretty often where I am at. Also, anyone know where I can get a BCG without getting bent over a barrel?

 

If you find one let me know lol.

Severe erosion that lengthens the port.

 

And this is more apparent when shooting tracer rounds because of the magnesium burning?
