Keep the front mudflaps on or remove???

That looks good. How much did you take off?

 

about 2.5" off rears and 4.5" off fronts. I measured up where I wanted them starting with rears to be just a bit below the tailpipe, which ended up being 13" off the ground, and marked them before cutting. Measured up on the fronts the same 13" and marked them before cutting. Used sheet metal shears to cut them then sanded the edges a bit.

 

I would leave them on. You don't want to have road debris chip up your paint. I took my front ones of for a few days and it didn't look right. My 1st gen on the other hand, looked much better without the front mud flaps.

 

i just got me a 2010 4 door and that is about the only thing i dont like on the truck is the mud flaps. i was thinking about just cutting them first to see if i like it better. the truck will never go off road.

 

Even if you never go offroad removing the flaps will spray dirt and mud all up the side of your truck. Kind of frustrating sometimes when you want to keep it clean. I'm not sure if trimming will effect the performance or not but something to think about. Heres a pic of a few miles on some muddy roads to show you what can happen.

 

I took the OEMs off and went with Weathertechs. Love them and don't miss the silly 4X4.

 

I'm keeping mine on, but plan to shorten the front ones when it warms up outside.

 

The stock front mudflaps sucked...They rubbed on everything. I took them off and then put some rally armor universal poly mudflaps to keep the paint on my sliders. Just hold them up to the stock ones and copy the hole pattern. The rally armors are great I repped them on my old Subaru and love them on the Taco.

anyone know if theres a law on flaps in So Cal? i just took mine off like a week ago.

 

Highway speeds will bend and eventually break the fronts even if you don't break them offroad. Might as well trim them.

 

DITCH THE FLAPS! they are lame!

Didn't want paint or flap damage. Changed OEM out for something a little more flexible.

I took the fronts off, got a nice rock chip on my rear door, then put the fronts back on. I do get rubbing at full crank, but they haven't dragged at all since I went to the bigger tires and 5100s at 1.75".
