I talked to the dealer a while back and they said not to put anything magnetic on the roof, your compas thing is in there some where. Have you had any problems for what you have up there?

Do you still have the same reception as before? How much did it cost?

No problems..and never thought about that until now. If you notice..the magnetic base is near the rear of the cab, away from the compass thing haha. Also to note, plenty of other taco owners have a similar setup and as far as a magnetic base antenna and nobody has ever mentioned any interference with the digital compass

I'm happy with the stock antenna - it serves as a good roof scrape warning when I have to park in an underground garage and I know I'm near the height limit...

Not pointing out just you, but a lot I'd people have said this. Any parking garage around here and that I have been in, before you pull in there is a bar hanging down as you pull in, showing the height limit. It's set at what is the lowest point in the garage. So if you hit that, than your too high. Do garages around everyone else not have this? Just don't understand the reasoning of using the stock antenna for that reason, if it has that height limit bar.

I picked up the 13" euro style from antennax because the stock antenna hit my garage door. I'm not sure how much I like the look vs the stock metal, but reception is fantastic and the antenna doesn't unscrew itself like the stock one did. Pretty happy with it.

Yep, they've got the bar and I won't go in if it warns of a height less than 6', but I always question whether or not I trust it implicitly. When I've been in the lower bowels of a garage, the antenna hits and scrapes a lot, but I've hit/scraped it HARD and stopped just in time to save my roof in the past (it looked like it was tightening up and I was going slowly)... I think the warning bar is a great guide, but not an absolute guarantee that there isn't a new low-hanging pipe or duct that was put in place after since the last overhead clearance measurement was taken.

Just looked at the truck outside - that's quite a bit of antenna for warning - 8" or so from 20' away? Like I said, I feel that it serves a purpose for my application. :)

    Cheers!

Going to be putting on the TRD 4.7'' antenna in a couple days, whenever it gets delivered. I don't use the radio (iPhone / AUX cable) but I don't like the look of the bare antenna holder. I also want an antenna just in case of some emergency. I trimmed my stock one to around 18'' a while ago and didn't notice any drop in reception, FYI. We'll see how the 4.7'' does when I get it on.
