33" tires RUB

So I just got 285-75-16 rubber

Issue is they rub hard on the fender flares in rear
I have +3" in front and 2.5" AAL

I'm afraid these tires are gonna rip my flares off in the rear
Id prefer not to trim the fenders

I hear I can install bigger bump stops

Any suggestions on what/where to get bump stops ?

Wow, crazy to hear they rub the fenders in the rear. I got 1.5" aal in the rear and they don't rub unless I stuff them while offroading.

Can't give no feedback on those bumpstops since I'm still running stock but bump to ya for feedback(s).

 

That's what trimming is for.

99% of people can't even tell unless you point it out.

 

Where does it rub front part or back? I unbolted my bed and slid it forward 1/2" until it was centered better. Sometimes the rear lift moves the axel out of line. Larger bumps are a good idea and/or trimming!

 

why not more lift in the rear? unless you like it “level”

 

Where is it rubbing? At the back bottom of the fenderwell? If that's the case you should be cutting all that off at some point for a high clearance bumper anyway.

I never thought about nudging the bed forward

 

You can also relocate the axle backward with plates. I'm not a fan of this method either, since you're goobering with suspension geometry.

 

It only had about 1/2 - 3/4 to go but did make a difference!

 

This seems like a cheap alternative .. I do have plenty of clearance in between tire and rear section of fender ..hmm
And I've been wanting to install the bed bolt d-rings .. I think they call that killing to birds with one stone ...if it works

 

just let it rub until it rubs through... viola.. no more rubbing

 

I would do just that, but .. My fear is ripping the flare off entirely or at least break the tabs that hold them on

What I'm trying to prevent

 

The bolt holes have play or... ? My bed looks crooked the passenger side is farther from the cab than the drivers side... So I need to loosen the bed mount bolts and the bed will shift?

I just took my flares off this week, but that was because of previouse body damage making them not fit so great anymore.

it is really hard to rip a flare off by rubbing. the underside of my flares are completely black, from the tires rubbing the paint off, but it didn't break anything, and you couldn't tell they rubbed by looking at the truck at ride height.

if you want to go the bump stop route, the 4.5'' bumps are pretty nice. i ran them for a while after i sold my timbrens. i'm on the 2.5'' energy suspension bumps now though. a little rubbing at full stuff, but the fenders never got town off
