Moral Nihilism is not a religion, it is a philosophy.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
I know all about yards in the South. Grass grows there like you would not believe. We had 14 acres. It grew so fast that by the time we got done mowing it, we had to start all over again. I was relieved when I got out here to Cali where the grass grows for like 2 months than stops. Now its just a struggle to keep it alive.

I decided to sit out for a day or two, not post and just think about where it was heading. No one is convincing anyone of anything. the yesses aren't changing their minds and neither are the nos. I came here to meet Taco people, make friends and learn stuff about my truck. I'm bailing before I piss someone off. My smart-assedness leans me that way a lot. I would like to say that Pster makes a good educated arguement, although I don't agree with anything he says. Intolerance just rubs me wrong. I also say you go jhodge. VERY entertaining thread. I should have known better than to jump in a thread concerning religion and politics. I'm thankful I still have my 1 green square. I'm out, hope to see ya on a different thread.

Cool duderino.....I'm not intolerant, I just don't agree!!! We all pick our likes and dislikes, friends and hopefully not too many enemies. That's not intolerance, it's choice.

I just had an idea.....let's give Man/Man, Woman/Woman and Man/Woman all equal rights and these labels to distinguish the male and female of humans:

    Man/Man = Mannaige
    Woman/Woman = Wommaige
    Man/Woman = Marriage

sweet, i found my bottom!!! lol

i did see something today that made sense and i could see as working.....

the state gives our civil-unions to everyone...gay/straight
the church can give out "marriage" to whom ever they see fit...straight churches have straight marriages/gay churches have gay marriages and those are both within the church alone

i think this would appease both sides

OK, so my third post is on this thread, I really must be a masochist. Anyway, I have to give a nod to hodge as a fellow double mother haver, and also for being someone who can coherently voice their opinions.

As the son of both a lesbian and a priest, I feel I have a unique view of this whole discussion. My father is an episcopal priest and my mother got married in Massachussetts recently. My whole family is well adjusted and happy. (weird, I know!) Personally, I don't understand people who think that how my family works is bad. If it offends your personal sensibilities that sounds a lot like your problem and not ours. Part of living is tolerance, and I try my damndest to be tolerant of everyone's choices. I don't expect everyone to accept my mother's way of life, but I hope they'll at least not make it their business to interfere in it.

Also, as far as the whole "marriage is a religious word" topic, I have this to say: Even if that were true, there's plenty of religions that use the word marriage and are perfectly accepting of homosexual marriage. (my father who had to endure a divorce because of my mother realising her homosexuality still supports the rights of homosexuals to marry) Please don't claim domain over a word in the English language for your particular sect of your particular religion. That seems awfully selfish.

If your personal beliefs (aka non-religious beliefs) are that homosexual marriage is wrong, I'm sorry you feel that way and respect your right to believe that. However, simply because a number of people believe another group doesn't deserve the same rights as they do doesn't mean that those people can legally subject that group to fewer rights. Even with a majority vote we could not criminalize interracial marriage, because we have the courts. I hope that one day the courts will have the opportunity to justly rule on same-sex marriage.

Thanks for reading my opinion, and please, don't hesitate to reply.
