I think my rear e-brake is frozen since Saturday. I am getting TERRIBLE mileage, and when I accelerate, after I reach 4-5mph it feels like it's hesitating like crazy. Fuuuuuu

I had a respirator on when priming mine, and just had the garage door cracked so i could keep the heat in. After i took the respirator off i had to get a fan because the fumes were BAD. I was hoping for some warmer weather this week but its not looking good.

I probably should have worn a respirator... I was just wearing one of those paint masks.

The only bad thing about the respirator is you don't know how bad the fumes are until you take it off haha. I stunk up the house pretty bad

Meh, a little fumes never hurt anyone. It's when you huff that shit daily for years that you need to worry.

Plus, who really wants to live past 75 anyways...:anonymous:

That is very true! I had that experience when I did a spray foam project last summer. I took my mask off and couldn't beleive how strong the fumes were inside the house!

How hard was that, you mean the insulation correct? I want to do it to my inlaws place up in Maine since there is no insulation under the floors, on the bulkheads, and probably not in the walls either if I had to guess.

It actually wasn't bad at all! I did it in a crawl space so I was on my back in a dirt floor the entire time and working with job lights the whole time. In that confined space, the heat was a real concern and my googles kept fogging up but the application went very smooth. I used Foamitgreen.com (redirects you to sprayfoamdirect.com) for my kit and I bought the big kit (it came as 2 cylinders, each the size of a BBQ propane cylinder).

It came with the 2 part mix, hose, the spray gun, a bunch of mixing tips (I still bought more, you go through them quickly), googles, a Tyvek suit with the booties and gloves. I had to buy my own respirator and I bought my own gloves since they ones they give you suck. You don't want that crap to get on you, it does NOT come off. I put petroleum jelly on any exposed skin on my face that the googles or respirator didn't cover and it kept any overspray from sticking to me (also helped the respirator seal to my face better). I got the idea because they tell you to smear the tip of the gun with petroleum jelly if you have to stop spraying. If you're going to be in a crawl space or some other confined space, I put a strip of duct tape on my chest to hold a bunch of the mixing tips so I could change them out quickly and not have to crawl out every time but also not hang on to them either. The stuff gets warm as it cures so you need to pay attention to how much you apply in a single pass and be careful about how much heat you create in a crawl space so you don't pass out. I did it on a 40 degree day and I'll bet the crawl space was well over 80 degrees by the time I was done. Watch the help videos on the companies' or youtube sites for application tips, they really do help! If you have any questions, let me know. I'd definitely do it again and am actually thinking about buying a second kit to do the sill plate and foundation walls in the main part of the house.

Thanks, doesnt sound so bad. There is a crawl space under half of the house, the other half is finished basement(house is on a slope). No insulation whatsoever under the floor for half of the house. They usually close the house in the winter anyways, but in the fall the floor in the dining room/kitchen/living room is freezing because its basically exposed to the outside air. There's a large vent in the carport that lets the cold air in under those areas)

Spray foam has a relatively low R-value unless you spray it really thick (which is very expensive). The reason I went with spray foam though is because it acts as an air barrier so it stops the drafts (plus you don't really lose heat through the floor, you lose it through the ceiling). If you get a good, 1-2" on the floor and completely stop the drafts, it makes a HUGE difference. Then you can always go over it with regular fiberglass insulation if you feel you need it down the road just for additional insulating value but at a lower cost. I put 2" on my entire crawl space floor and turned it down the foundation also and it was plenty. The floor is a lot warmer and the inside of the crawl space stays pretty warm now that the cold air can't just blow through the holes in the field stone foundation.

I like that kit, no need for an air compressor or anything.

Almost sounds like what happened when I had a fuel pump is about to quit. Are your rear brakes heating up more than normal?

I don't think any of the DIY kits required a compressor, they all seemed to be very user friendly. I researched the kits a lot and that one seemed to have the best overall reviews. Just for laughs, here's what I looked like before going into the crawl space, I even have the extra tips taped to my chest:

I can imagine that stuff does not com off skin. I got a bunch of that greatstuff foam insulation in the spray can on my skin last year, and it took like a week to come off.
