Tied for most with 3 other players, but details..Reed is a hell of a great player, I'll bet when he retires he's top 5 easy.

Flacco has played well recently in terms of the long ball for sure. Dunno about elite, but a great year of course.

SF QB situation: Eh, bottom line is you gotta produce. Back in 2001 when Drew Bledsoe got hurt and Brady took over, they stuck with Brady when Drew was healed. Even though he came in the game and won the AFC title they went with Brady in the Super Bowl. Sports is all about "what have you done for me lately", sad sometimes yes but it's about results in my book.

Not a bad night, I hit 2 of the 4 quarters on my $5 sheet for $300 total. Love that safety at the end..

Alex Smith was winning :notsure: What else do you want? If Smith does find his way to another team, the 49ers better find a backup for Kaepernick. RGIII and vick show how easy scrambling qbs get hurt.

I agree, it would have been foolhardy to just yank Smith. However, the guy got injured and C-Kap played well, well enough to impress those making the decisions. I wasn't a huge fan of Bledsoe in my earlier example, but if you told me at the start of the 2001 season he'd get pulled and the Pats would have arguably their best year to date I'd have laughed, as would most anyone else.

    Agreed on the backup QB..

Well, folks, all in all, not too shabby for a QB in his second season and 10th game, he obviously believes in the system in which he plays. His could haves and should haves, well, those are things that hopefully he will learn and benefit from in years forwards. IMO I think he will, I honestly think he has a shot to take his place among the Niner QB greats. Lofty words I speak I know, but consider the upshot. How many 'rookie' QB's got SB experience in their 10th start? He could possibly be the only one. Not Joe nor Steve, this kid could very well be sporting a ring next year. You can't teach the things he learned tonight, he, and the whole team, has nothing to be ashamed of. This was a game where you absolutely could not make mistakes, the opponent was too good.
I'm not going to whine about the game, no point in it. No one on the planet expected a second year coach to go that far that fast. That he has a system that wins and only a few holes to fill bodes very well for the future. Tonight I saw the Spark, it's the drive to expect to win, something I have not seen in many years. That's the way it was in the 80's and 90's, we expected to win because we knew we were that good. I have all the faith in the world that we will be back to the Big Game sooner rather than later.
The Ravens earned that one, they out-played us and we made a few key mistakes for which the Ravens made us pay dearly for. Good for them, enjoy it because you won't be back next year.
The NFC West in going to be the best and most brutal in the league. The Falcons and Green Bay will be up there too. I WILL be trash-talking you Seattle Fans next year, it's gonna be fun.
So in signing off this thread and keeping it classy like Niner Fans should be, I say till next year, we WILL be back!

    Sincerely,
A fifth-generation SF native and die-hard Niner Fan

All in all, glad to see the Ravens get the win more than the 49ers.

-The Smith/Kaep situation was just kinda wrong.
-Good to see a few former Bengals, NOT get a SB ring. Justin Smith, Ahmad Brooks.

I have been a ravens fan since 96, it makes you tired shit talking that long when you are always an underdog, even shannon sharpe was dogging the ravens on the pregame show and he has a ring from his time in baltimore. Even now that the superbowl is over and Baltimore is back on top there is still people shit talking saying Baltimore didnt win because of the teams skills but because of the 49rs mistakes. The ravens fans are plentiful, just tired of all the shit talking. On a side note is there anybody here that was in downtown Baltimore after the game i heard it was fuckin crazy

Keep it classy Jim. This guy is slowly surpassing Belicheck as the biggest prick in the NFL. He also refused to talk to the CBS guys.

What's everyone think of he call at the end? Hold or not? I think it's questionable. But bad time management by the niners, shouldn't have had to use either timeout. After the blackout it was a good game, before was pretty boring.

Honestly i think it was a bad call but I don't want to think the entire game should have rested on that, we made plenty of mistakes throughout the game that would have put us ahead. I'm not gonna gripe about it, what would have been worse would have been a phantom penalty deciding the game.

Holding call shoulda been called, it was pretty obvious.

VERY bad time management by the Niners, definitely shoulda run the ball and chipped time away off that clock.

Nobody really mentioned but was it even catchable? IF he caught the ball right where he was he barely got a 2nd foot in bounds (granted he was lunging and trying to catch instead of laying out), had he not been held and able to catch the ball I'm not so sure he wouldve been able to get in bounds anyway

Granted the ball had a high probability of being uncatchable, but there was holding on the play.

I didn't see the actual play live just the replay, but it seemed like Crabtree could have been called for pushing off too.

Problem is which comes first. Did the guy push off b/c he was being held, or vice versa?

I could be wrong but un-catchable shouldn't matter on defensive holding, only on pass interference.

IMO there was defensive holding, but there was also some (minor) pushing off. I thought it was just enough on both sides to warrant the no call in the 4th qtr, last play (for the niners) super bowl etc. These are two of the most physical teams in the league, you have to expect more contact than normal. I would think they call a SF, BALT, SEA, PIT game differently that a NE/DEN/NO game.

I would always prefer the refs letting the players decide. Keep the flag in your pocket unless it is just silly obvious ... like the Golden Tate shove .. but I'm not complaining :p
