I've got a 2010 w/ Dunlops and have 45k on them and agree they suck but for factory tires getting that many miles ill drag it out till I have money to purchase new ones. I really cant say anything good about them besides the life of the tire.

Replaced wornout original Dunlops at 35k miles. Terrible on wet roads. Replaced with Michelin LTX - quieter, excellent on dry, wet, and gravel. Lost about 1.5 mpg.

Had the Deulers on my Sport. Were fine for an on road tire. They were terrible in the snow though and I wanted an aggressive tire so I ditched them a year after I got the truck and got Duratracs and new wheels.

went from BFG "Rugged Fails" to LTX MS/2's and they make a world of difference.

The BFGs had horrible traction in snow and wet ground.

My truck is a 2007 and I got it in 2009 and it had 5000 miles on it. Tires were beginning to dry rot.

Got the LTX MS/2's at discount tire. MPG went up by 2 as well!

Dunlops on my truck were torn up by 10k miles. Crushed concrete driveway plus numerous trips into the woods on rough hunting trails. Replaced with duratracs in stock size 245/75 load C and have much better experiences across the board. With the exception of not liking how loud they are for an all day highway trip.

Fathers FJC has the duelers. Good all around tire for a pavement bound tire. 8k miles and the tread blocks are tearing up quite a bit.

On my 2006 4x4 non trd I had the dunlops. I sold those & bought Goodyear Silent Armors. Those were great tires on the taco.
On my 2013 I am sticking with the BFG Rugged Trails til next winter then swapping them out. Winter is almost over. The little bit I did use them in snow was not impressive. The treads slicked up very easily.
The tires on my tundra were the same highway design as the Dunlops but they were michelins...
I found a set of RW wheels & BFG A/T KOs.
    Those tires were freakin awesome!
    My 2cents.

I put on the Cooper AT3's at 17K. I still had thread left on the Dunlaps, but the two front tires developed pinhole leaks in the sidewalls. Also, all 4 tires gave a mushy ride, even when they had 32lbs of air.

2011 TRD sport with Bridgestone. I'm getting Michelin LTX m/s2 mounted up tomorrow. They rate very high on tirerack.

As I have said here several times, the Dunlop GranTrek tires than came on my truck scared me to drive on them. I could not get them off of my truck fast enough and did so at 1300 miles.

I thought they weren't bad either until I upgraded when mine were sufficiently worn...They are nowhere near as good as my LTX A/T2's in the rain or snow.

The reviews you read are likely focused on a single aspect alone (performance in one area alone). For a manufacturer, tire selection is a careful balance between many factors - overall size (performance & fuel economy), tread pattern (comfort, performance, & fuel economy), load capacity, load handling (performance & fuel economy), noise (pissed off customers), product life (pissed off customers), and so on. With all things considered (with an eye towards satisfying a large number of diverse customers), the tires selected by Toyota (BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A) are probably a reasonably good choice.

I read one of your post a few days ago where you said they were not that bad of a tire. One of the only reasons I keep telling myself to keep these tires for a bit longer. Knowing that these tires suck that bad makes it easier to purchase new tires before actually needing to be replaced.

I do love those A/T2's. I got my eye on them, cooper AT3, and the firestone destination A/T when I decide to replace.

I completely agree but I do believe Toyota is cutting corners on tires. More so going for price, over value. Could also be a contract involved? I know there is a metric shit ton of unhappy customers who have had the pleasure of running these tires.
I thought they looked like a decent tire but after reading all the happy stories and near death experiences associated with this tire I will steered clear of them.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
    Mine came with Dunlops.

Good: They were a great highway and summer tire, were very quiet and didn't seem to drag any on the highway due to their lightweight. You really notice heavier tires on a 4 banger trust me!
Bad: They sucked about anywhere that wasn't dry pavement, rain they were okay, but gravel roads, mud, snow, ice, they sucked. A tiny pebble punctured a hole in my right rear that got lodged between the treads and that was when I decided it was time to get something beefier. Upgraded to Wrangler SilentArmors and never looked back, I've had these tires on there for about 15k and they still look new.
