Custom relay harness!

waste of energy. HIDs are much more efficient and output more light. Should just retro fit. My Hellas 500s HIDs are way more powerful then my LF240s 100w. Hell one out shines them. But the LF240s lens is nicer so they reach out farther. I'll probably convert them soon as well.

 

Not as pretty but does the same thing,mounted behind rear seat in a double cab.

 

I wanted this wired up to handle 40A continuous because I'm really not sure what ill be running. Hopefully HID's an this is massive overkill. But then again so is the lift kits we all have and the supercharger ill get.
My plus is this setup will be very compact, and will be very solid with the epoxy filled/ secured relays and terminals like your solid OEM setups are.
Maybe I'm the only one that'll buy from him?

Aside from price, seems like this is a solid go from everyone?

Also, anyone see a problem with my wiring diagram?
I'm worried the split where the first low (40 amp) circuit will get bad interference from the high amp circuit.

 

Id still go with the Bussman. I have 4 HIDs 55w running no problem on a 35 amp fuse. They are way brighter then a 100w Halogen.

Bussman is cheaper, totally 100% customizable to your liking.

For 370 dollars, you could have a very compact setup using maybe 3 bussmans, all the relays, fuses, connectors, wire, Switches, and a circuit breaker.

And then, after buying all that, you could take the remaining $200.00 or so and go buy a bunch of okled or blitzpro bars.

Not everyone wants HID's, myself included... More parts to fail. No offense but whether you think it's a waste of energy is irrelevant, I was merely explaining why you'd buy a 40A relay. There are lots of people running multiple light setups and 100W lamps aren't uncommon.

 

Well..it is..I have over 40 lights on my rig. I want the current draw to be as little as possible.

I do like my halogen 240s for driving lights as they turn on instantly.

Anyways, the group buy is on, and you guys gave me an idea-
Sure ~300 is pricey, but after I get this heavy duty relay together, I can save lots with halogens and never worry about overloading instead of working with a limited number of watts to get the most efficient light given that limit. I honestly like the warmer color of halogens anyways, seems to be easier on my eyes to pick out obstacles in a hurry.

Any thoughts?

 

When I ment low consumption I was referring to battery. You better have a nice upgraded alternator and second battery.

My setup plus 50 amps to 65 continuous. That's a 3v drop too on my battery. Your lights won't work great with a stock setup.

And you can get HIDs in 3000k for a yellow color..just saying.

But you load up with the 100w halogens...just make sure you get a second battery and new alternator too.

Well I do have the towing kit thing with the fancy pants 180 amp alternator, which will help but I get what you're saying. Do you notice your current draw pulling more than your alternator can provide?

 

That'll help a ton.

My stock one is 80. So it was straining. Got a 140 now much better plus second battery.

 

I also wouldnt wire all 4 lights to a single relay. I used to do this and it would suck when the relay would fail off road. now, i only run 2 lights off a single relay that way when it fails it will only take out two lights. as even good relays will fail after a wile.

 

I really like that. It would keep the water from getting and corroding the terminals, and prevent arcing / blowing fuses from mud, dust, etc.

 

You have a 130 amp alternator with the towing package.

Not 180, unless you bought a new alternator.

Sure, you can save some money buying halogens, but if you were to attempt to have anywhere near as much lighting a blackdawg, using just halogens... I would assume you'd be pushing a few thousand watts.

Even with all the relays in the world, you're not just going to have unlimited power with a stock battery and tow package alternator. I have A pretty low current draw on my setup right now, and I'm already considering a dual battery system. I too have the tow package alt.

 

I like the idea of this, its clean, powerful but extremely over priced.

If you can drop these down to 150$ I think people would be on them, but over 300$ for this is way too steep.

Also I run 6 Hid ballasts, 2 HID's per fuse/relay and all are 35watt HID kits. Blusea fuse block and normal relay's, never have issues.

You're willing to spend 370 dollars, to have a relay and fuse box built, as opposed to spending 100 dollars and making a one yourself... I understand there is piece of mind in having something professionally done...

However, you're saying you're going to save money by just using a bunch of halogen lights..? Wouldn't you want to get the nicest, brightest, highest rated lights available, if their going to be mated to the professional/custom made relay harness?

Halogen lights are very expensive if you get high quality ones... Saying you're gonna save money on that end of the system seems counter productive...

 

Ask Blackdog how much those LF 240 halogens were before you go on thinking you'll save money buying halogens... You can retrofit a set of Hellas with HIDs relatively cheap, that's why they've become so popular.

Also, just so we're clear, all your setup does is keep your accessory power nice and organized (and relatively easy to expand). You don't magically create power by using your fuse holder so just because you have 8-40A relays doesn't mean your electrical system has enough ass to put that much power out. You can still overload your electrical system if you're not careful.
